Happy New Year has taken an outstanding opening all over on Friday at the domestic box office. The early morning reports suggest that most shows held as early as 7 in the morning are packed to capacity.
The opening that Happy New Year has taken is on-par with expectations from a Shahrukh Khan Diwali release and the advance booking for the rest of the day is incredible too.
The occupancy for the early morning shows at 4-5 centres that we tracked is about 20-25% higher than Bang Bang, and even better than Singham Returns which suggests that the film is on course to post a total of at least 30 cr+ on its opening day.
What’s also heartening is that Happy New Year has also taken a fantastic start at single-screen theatres.

- Hyderabad – All morning shows packed to capacity. 90-100% opening here and we are talking about shows that start at 8:45AM! At multiplexes in prime localities, very few tickets of Happy New Year are available. If you live in Hyderabad, grab those tickets now before they are sold out!
- Bangalore – Most shows here start only at 9:45am onwards. But we have been informed that Happy New Year is set to take the best start of 2014 here. Hundreds already at theatres to catch the first show. The advance booking for the day is also outstanding, as good as Dhoom 3, no less!
- Mumbai (city) – Shows as early as 8AM were packed to capacity here. Most shows start 9:30 onwards, but many of those first-day-first-show tickets are sold out. If you prefer purchasing your tickets directly at theatres, instead of booking it online, be prepared to stand in long queues.
- Pune – A cinepolis multiplex in Hadapsar has 38 shows of Happy New Year, but guess what, 80-90% opening for the frst 5 morning shows that started as early as 8:15AM. Incredible.
- Kolkata – SRK reigns supreme yet again, he is literally worshipped here. 9AM shows at multiplexes packed. Full house. No seats available. Throughout the city, very few tickets are available for the rest of the day.
- Mangalore – The coastal city of India where Shahrukh Khan spent a few years of his childhood, has opened to fairly good response for a small city. 3 multiplexes running to 75% plus occupancy. Newly opened PVR theatre, sold out morning shows.
Overall, very good opening for Happy New Year at the box office. If the film sustains through the day, it could record the highest single day collections. Will it touch the 40 cr mark?

HNY – Chennai Exprs was largely saved by Deepika but dis has such an uninterestng script dat here even she might not be able to do anything.

Hny is a crap film as expected. Even 200% opening in day one cann’t save film to become only average. Because of post diwali release otherwise this film is super flop.

Guys saw the movie yesterday in Dubai…excellent comedy..story is simple but not boring at all. Every one in the enjoyed the movie..a bit long but still fine…complete entertainer for 3 hours. .occupency is around 80 to 95% in all UAE and gulf…as per reports here..audience loved it..
HNY is having highest occupancy ever. It will break all records. Dhoom 3 record will be history by tonight.

Why Shahrukh’s Happy New Year Will Be A Big Flop.?
he makers have adopted several unique strategies to promote their movie, from Slam! The tour to innumerable TV show promotions to a reality show called Indiawaale. Somewhere the reason I feel they went so over board with the promotions of their movie is not because they were confident about it but rather that they too know how bad their movie will be. These over board promotions were just to fool audiences to flood into theatres, it worked because the advance booking got the movie is happening at such a high rate that the tickets are almost over, at least in the Bangalore city. From when the trailer of the movie has released, i have so not been happy about the movie. Trust me the casting and several other aspects had got me so excited about the movie that I was eagerly waiting to see a small jhalak and but the trailer disappointed me hugely and I have lost all the interest to watch the movie.
The premiere has already happened in Dubai and the reviews are out which totally justify my opinion about the movie, that it is going to be a big flop. The movie may mint money owing to the huge promotions but there are several aspects about the Happy New Year movie that scream from rooftops that it will be a flop story that will drive the audiences out of the theatres.

Totally flop film of the year with no content. if it has at least one churtbuster song then it may be atleast watchable but song not hit enough to save the film to be a watchable.

those who dnt know raj singh is my id and my predictions for entertainment, sr, bang bang’s lifetime r pretty close to actualls. my prediction for hny is 170 in hindi and 185 crore in all version.
reviews are mixed. The mistake HNY did is 2 release in India 1 day later and that is having a setback . Haters spread the early reviews that came from middle east like viral although the reviews were on the same lines for other blockbusters. Remember ETT review in overseas?
I am yet 2 see the movie with no big expectations that I have in usual SRK flick but am pretty sure it will not be bad like dhoom 3 or ETT.
Yesterday @sahir HNYwale predicted hny will collect 100cr within 2days….thats mean 60cr on its opening day…..knowledge of srk fans.
Bakwas movie.. They all looks like idiots through out the movie and srk is repeating his so calles famous step again again.. Looks like farah want to impress srk in some way

the movie has 80% occupancy in avg in 8 am shows which never happened in the history…the first week itself will recover it’s cost and few r saying it will be a flop? really out of mind..
if it get’s a 2-3 star rating then its great becoz a masala film never gets a 4-5 rating check for D3 and kick has same rating and imdb both r in 5 out of 10…so dont cry for rating as its a entertainment masala movie not a chak de or,lagaan,swadesh or 3 idiots…2 to 3 star is more then enough and public rating is most important ..come and check the single screens its over crowded and i didnt get a ticket for first 2 shows planning for late night show or sat…response is best for any srk starrer so far.
Indicine at its biased best…has not opened critics page for HNY till now…because HNY has not got one 3 star till now….Protecting SRK interest at its best…For Bang Bang the critics page was opened by 10-11. But for HNY till now no critics review page…
When all reviews give it a 2 star rating…I will not be surprised to see a 3.5 star or 4 star from Indicine for HNY…

It will do a good business because it’s a comedy ( which everyone like ) and with no content, a shallow film ( which also everyone love!) so it’s a super hit or a blockbuster 100% guarantee.
One negative probably for everyone which is the length.. 3 hours!!! I couldn’t stand this film as it’s not for me, and I just left the theater before it ends, 30 minutes before.
AND WHY THEY NAMED IT: Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!! nothing in New Year eve!!! probably the dance show at the end of the movie was during the New Year!!! maybe!!

My Friends in California who all are not a great fan of SRK saw the movie late night and they went gaga about it. They said it is a complete entertainer and rated 10/10. They even said that the audience enjoyed very well and had lots of fun through out the movie.
I was very surprised and believe me they are kind of audience who are very neutral..
how a film can be this much entertaining..hats off to hny team.
