Grand Masti has collected around 40.5 crore in its first weekend at the box office. Given the fact that the film didn’t have a major star cast, the opening on Friday came as a pleasant surprise. A good opening in the range of 7-8 crore was always on the cards, but not many in the trade expected the opening day business to comfortably cross the 10 crore mark.
Even though the film had a reasonably wide release (2048 screens), business across all territories picked up by around 5% on Saturday. Mumbai performed the best with close to 40% of the weekend business generated from this circuit alone. On Sunday, afternoon to late evening, most shows were running to 75-80% occupancy, night shows were pretty good too.
Irrespective of how Grand Masti fares on Monday, the film is hugely profitable to all its investors. If it sustains well today, the first week business might well be close to Rs 60 crore net. The release of Phata Poster Nikhla Hero next week, will affect the film’s business, but it still has a chance to be the highest ‘adult’ grosser ever. Grand Masti needs to beat the 80 crore record of ‘The Dirty Picture’ to do so.

hence i say to superstar fans dont fight.. even a film like GM has taken a fantastic opening.. a movie with superstars like hrithik, aamir, salman, shahrukh with good promotion and x factor will always put up huge and record breaking collections.. so instead of fighting and pulling down other superstars, respect each one of them.. they all are special in their own ways and personally i like and respect all of them
30crores+ opening and 200crores are no big deal for hrithik aamir salman shahrukh.. tommorow it will be 50+crores opening and 300crores lifetime
each one of them is capable of making and breaking any records
Its 4th day monday collection is approx. 8 crore and total 4 day collections is 48 cr so it can easily surpass 65 cr in its first week itself.. and good chance to beat the dirty picture collections as well..
