The clash between two of the biggest films of 2017 is now official. The makers of Shankar’s ambitious sci-fi film ‘Robot 2.0’ have officially announced the release date of the Rajnikanth – Akshay Kumar starrer. The film will hit theatres during the Diwali 2017 weekend.
Earlier, Rohit Shetty had announced the fourth instalment in the super-popular ‘Golmaal’ series for Diwali. The film features Ajay Devgn and Parineeti Chopra in the lead.
The clash between the two films could well be one of the biggest the industry has ever seen, as the ‘Golmaal’ series has a huge following. In terms of star cast and budget it cannot get bigger than ‘Robot 2.0’.
Interestingly, back in 2010 when ‘Golmaal 3’ released, it was Ajay taking on Akshay in a one-sided clash with ‘Action Replayy’ succumbing to the popularity of the Golmaal series on the first day itself. This time, the two are more evenly matched. ‘Golmaal Again’ will be decimated in the south, but it’ll be interesting to see which film comes out on top in other parts of the country.
The other question is, whether Rohit and Ajay will think about postponing their film to a different date, as a film like ‘Robot 2.0’ could make a huge dent on the business of ‘Golmaal Again’ in states like Tamilnadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Akshay has a greater fan-following than Ajay and Ajay after Shivaay failure taking over Akshay in current form would also be difficult. Moreover the comedy genre is also not working big time currently.

Obviously I am going to see 2.0 in Diwali next year not because ofjust I am an Akshay Kumar fan but also because of the scale and special effects of 2.0. Films like Golmaal 4 can easily be seen on television or mobile. BAAHUBALI & 2.0 are must watching movies in theatres and should be watched in theatres.

Golmaal film maker and actor have admitted that Golmaal Returns was as crappy as it gets. The 4th film won’t match up to such Superstar power. Better to postpone or better still, stall the franchise.
