God Tussi Great Ho Movie Review

God Tussi Great Ho directed by Rumi Jaffrey stars Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead with Anupam Kher, Sohail Khan, Rajpal Yadav in supporting roles. Amitabh Bachchan has a special appearance. The movie has been in the making for quite a long time now. Now hype, no excitement even the lead stars havent promoted it well enough to generate curiosity. It was strange to see Salman Khan promoting Bachna Ae Haseeno, which also released today, on his game show Dus Ka Dum. So the only thing that can actually save the movie is a good product which would ensure strong word of mouth. Lets find out…

The story basically revolves around Arun Prajapati (Salman Khan). Arun aims at becoming a big anchor but luck never favors him and all his attempts get shattered. Professionally he is a failure, his love life too isn’t something he could be proud off. For all the failures and troubles that Arun faces, he blames the one and only GOD. To Arun, God is responsible and accountable for everything that is bad in his life.

Alia Kapoor (Priyanka Chopra) is a brave, confident and gorgeous girl working for the same TV channel as Arun. She is Arun’s love who he always wishes to propose but never succeeds. Enters Rocky (Sohail Khan) a smart, confident and successful guy, to add to his troubles. Who would Alia prefer… the looser Arun or the smart Rocky? Arun as usual holds God responsible for all his failures and one day to his surprise God appears in front of him and grants him special powers. What Arun does with these powers and how does this changes his perspective of both God and life forms the rest of the story.

God Tussi Great Ho Review

God Tussi Great Ho is just another run-of-the-mill kind of entertainer. It has few moments that are genuinely funny along with few good messages. But the main flaw is the story, which isn’t very captivating. Rumi has just linked many crazy moments here and there with a wafer thin plot line which fails to hold the viewers attention throughout.

Although there are various characters in the movie, it basically concentrates on one, that of Arun and seeing the whole story from just one man’s perspective at times acts as a turn off, as you wonder what other characters are doing in the movie? Also the plot line deviates into songs at times when its just not necessary.

The first half is smoothly paced and is entertaining in parts. With Arun getting special powers; you expect a faster paced magical half, post interval. But all you get is a middling and protracted second half that gets tedious to sit through as the reels unfold. The moments loose their captivity and their entertainment quotient. The climax too doesn’t elevate the proceedings.

Music by director duo Sajid-Wajid who in the past have delivered many hits with Salman Khan, are just okay in God Tusi Great Ho. None of the songs are worth a mention and are there just for the heck of it. Isnt it a must for a commercial hindi movie to have a few songs, no matter how bad they are?Cinematography is okay. Dialogues are good.

Salman Khan is the soul of God Tussi Great Ho. The role demands an innocent yet crazy looking guy and Salman fits into the skin of the character perfectly. Amitabh Bachchan has a short presence in the movie but as usual makes an impact. His stature suits perfectly for the role he portrays. Priyanka Chopra has nothing much to do, a glamorous role which she carries off well. Sohail Khan as a villain is good with his crazy style of acting. Anupam Kher is fantastic. Rajpal Yadav is good and so are the other supporting actors.

Overall, God Tussi Great Ho is yet another mindless entertainer with few good messages for the masses. its a movie that you would enjoy only if you expect nothing!

Rating: ★★☆☆☆
