G Kutta Se is the perfect launch for me: Rajveer Singh

‘Models can’t act’ stigma continues to haunt the ramp-walkers. This despite the fact that models like Arjun Rampal, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Sushmita Sen, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Siddhartha Malhotra etc have enjoyed tremendous acceptance from the public. The new breed of models seem realise they need unconventional vehicles to be able to showcase their talent. Top model and Instagram rage, Rajveer Singh thought as much when he decided to step into Bollywood.

Q. Coming from modelling background how come you decided to do a realistic rural based film like G Kutta Se rather than choose a more conventional, glamorous launch?

Rajveer – To be honest i always imagined myself in a mainstream commercial vehicle during my modelling days as any 90’s kid growing up on a staple diet of Hindi movies would. But once I shifted to Mumbai after modelling in Delhi, a change in perception and aspirations started for me. I’d been noticing the change that mainstream films are going through. I was considering some offers of romantic and action films but around the same time offer for G Kutta Se came my way and I was like “This is what I really wanna do, rather than an old style romance or drama”. We all know a lot of smaller commercial films tend to end up as cheesy products in the end. The script of G Kutta Se somehow convinced me that “this can never go wrong”. I think this is just the perfect launch for me.

Q. Without any formal training in acting wasn’t it tough to dive into a film like G which requires a lot of authenticity and realism?

Rajveer – Without any formal training! You must be kidding. While I deliberately avoided the crash courses that teach formulaic acting to newcomers who all end up acting the same, the gruelling workshops that the G Kutta Se team put us through, were highly extensive. They lasted for over 2 months and then there were hectic rehearsal schedules. At times I would be like “I get paid 2 lakh rupees for a four hour photo session in modelling and here I am sweating like an industrial labor”. But in the end it was all worth the effort.

G Kutta Se releases in theatres on 16th June 2017.

    Reminds me of Harshvardhan.
    Trailer is interesting.

  • @indicine Why are promoting this non-sense??

  • Interesting Trailer. I like the actors and the song. The main actor looks like he will be good in commercial action films.

This will be big in the ‘parallel’ cinema sense. May be 8-10 cr lifetime like masaaan, ugly etc.
