Fitoor vs Sanam Re Box Office Prediction

It’s time for yet another clash at the box office. Fitoor and Sanam Re are the big releases this week and both are multiplex films, releasing during the Valentine’s Day weekend. Sanam Re is also getting a fairly good single-screen release.

Check out factors in favour and against both films.

Factors in favour of Fitoor:

• Star value: Katrina Kaif is one of the biggest female stars in the country
• Music: The music of Fitoor has gained popularity in the last couple of weeks
• Director: Abhishek Kapoor has directed films like Rock On!! and Kai Po Che

Factors against Fitoor:

• Niche: Fitoor is unlikely to hold appeal outside 10-15 cities, which is also one of the reasons why the makers have opted for a limited release of 1225 screens in India.
• Economics: Fitoor is an expensive film, has to collect upwards of 75 crore just to recover costs.
• Word-of-mouth dependent: It’s going to be a slow start for Fitoor on Friday morning, the film will have to grow on word-of-mouth. Saturday and Sunday business will be crucial.

Factors in favour of Sanam Re:

• T-Series: The music and production company has gone all out to promote Divya Kumar Khosla’s directorial venture. Promos have been playing non-stop on television.
• Music: Like Divya’s first film Yaariyaan, the music of Sanam Re is hugely popular.
• Youth factor: The youth might opt for Sanam Re over Fitoor
• Wider appeal and release: The film has been shot in beautiful locations, has good music, feel-good factors, good looking actors and has the potential to succeed at smaller centres, which is why the makers are giving the film a wide release.
• Economics: Recovery shouldn’t be a problem for Sanam Re, it could recover costs by the end of its first weekend if the opening is good.

Factor against Sanam Re:

• Star value: Yami Gautam is probably the most popular star, that says a lot doesn’t it? The film lacks face value.

Clearly, Sanam Re has plenty of factors in its factors and could surprise on Day 1 at the box office.

We are going with yet another bold prediction. We expect Sanam Re to take a Rs 5.5 crore opening and Fitoor to start at Rs 5.2 crore on Day 1 at the box office.
