Filmfare Awards is the second most prestigious award in the industry after the Indian National Awards. Part of the reason is history, Filmfare is the oldest awards in the Hindi film industry. - Dilip Kumar has been nominated 19 times and won 8 awards. The legend is also the only actor to win 3 back to back awards. His conversions of receiving a nomination to winning an actor, is by far the best.
- Shahrukh Khan has been nominated 34 times (all categories) and has won the Best Actor award 8 times, a record which he shares with Dilip Kumar.
- Amitabh Bachchan has been nominated for a record 29 times but has won just 5 awards.
- Hrithik Roshan has been nominated 12 times and has won 4 trophies. Hrithik is the first and only actor to win both the Best Actor and Best Debut awards in the same year (for Kaho Na Pyaar Hai). And the first actor to win both the Best Actor critics and popular award (for Koi Mil Gaya).
- Rajesh Khanna has received 14 nominations and has won just 3.
- One of the biggest superstars in the industry, Salman Khan has received the ‘highest number of nominations without winning’. Some of his notable losses are to Jackie Shroff in 1989 (Maine Pyaar Kiya), Shahrukh in 1995 (Karan Arjun) and Hrithik in 2003 (Tere Naam).
- Aamir Khan has won the Filmfare Best Actor award twice, but he refused to accept the award for Lagaan in 2001 and doesn’t attend any Indian award ceremony.

I think in recent times the Awards shows completely ignore the Highest Grossing Movies of all Time unless ofcourse that movie stars Global Queen. Dhoom 3, PK, Ghajini didnt want many awards but Sholay of 1975 winning only 1 award was a disgrace. SHOLAY is equivalent to Titanic in historical standing at the boxoffice but Titanic was rightly rewarded with many many awards. Bollywood can still learn from Hollywood

I think Akshay has great chance to win his 1st FilmFare this year for Baby.

Well, I admit that this D2 case is debatable. Aamir and Sanjay dutt had received praises. May be they didn’t choose Sanjay as he had repeated the same role as in MBMBBS. As for RDB, yes! Aamir’s performance was appreciated. But same went with Hrithik’s performance in Dhoom 2. Aamir’s character in RDB was a simple character. No doubts, an action movie like Dhoom 2(which was the still the most critically acclaimed and most loved film of Dseries) was nowhere near the classics like LRMB and RDB. But here we’re talking about performances. For me, all of the three are equally brilliant in their films.
Mr. A of HR was one of the most loved performances of 2006 by critics as well as audience. I am laughing imagining any other actor in that role. Ofcourse, they could have played , but that act would have been easily forgettable like John in D1, Aamir in D3 or SRK in Don. Again, I’m not saying that Hro was far better than Sanjay and Aamir. But He was equally brilliant. May be Aamir was not given becoz his character in RBD was a simple one . This case is always debatable.
For Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, I don’t agree with you. Hrithik had played two characters (as the innocent Rohit and the stylist and smart Raj) in the film so beautifully. His acting made people rood for his character. Hrithik’s performance in KNPH is more iconic than SRK in Mohaabatein. Even you know that Rohit/Raj craze of 2000.
And what about 2010? Wasn’t Hrithik’s act in Guzaarish was better than SRK’s act in MNIK?
