  • Congrats Hrithik and the cast and crew of Jodha Akbar. Deserved every award it won.

Most awards were perfect except the following

    1. Debut Awards should not have been shared. Aamir actor was more deserving.
    2. Best Music should have gone to Jodha Akbar. Music was much better than Jaane Tu.
    3. Whose that Manjot Singh? If am not wrong he played the younger lead character of Abhay Deol. Naseeruddin Shah for A Wednedsay or Vinay Pathak for Dasvidaniya were more deserving.

Good to see Ghajini and Rab Ne not winning many awards. They didnt deserve any of it, except Sukhwinder Singh for Haule Haule and Asin for Best Debut.

Overall the awards were good. After a long time the right film, director, actor and actress have won. Filmfare usually screws up big time.

  • I absolutely agree with Suniel above.
Also, wasn’t Shahana the supporting actress in Rock on? The Lead was Prachi Desai, so how could Shahana get the Best Actress critics award? You’re right, Filmfare does have a tendancy of screwing up – I am reminded of the time when Nutan was nominated for her role in Main Tulsi Tere Angan Ki as BOTH Lead Actress and Supporting Actress for the same film.
Thank God they did not screw up the main awards.

However, Hirtik acting was good but not like be given a best actor award.. somehow something somewhere there is always misjudgement…Congratulatesss to all… anywa.

  • Oh,Please guys please don’t start another fight here. This is to make comments on the filmfare awards and not to fight. Everyone has their own views. We should respect to others’ views even when u don’t agree with them.
Indicine team, Please don’t allow them to fight.
All of them deserve the awards except (for me) Anushka should have won the best debut award. She was better than Asin.

  • Shahrukh used to receive some awards in the past for his roles in some movies which weren’t so great, but he was the best during those years.. now we come to his best performance ever in Rabne.. as Surinder Sahani and he didn’t win!!!

Hrithik deserves the award, but Shahrukh too.. he deserved appreciation for this role and I don’t think that Shahrukh would ever be able to do any better role than this one in future.

Shahana in Rock On deserved the award too.. her acting was so natural, so good.. and it’s not the matter of how long she was on the screen playing the role.. it’s the matter of “performance” even if it was only one minute in any movie.

Arjun Rampal too, deserved his award.. but my question is the following:

Why no one honoured Anoushka Sharma yet?!!!! She’s so good as a debutant, played the main leading role in Rabne.. her role was more serious and difficult than the one Asin played in Ghajini, she’s loveable, cute, got a beautiful face and a strong charisma, so why not?! that’s my question if anyone could answer please

  • Khann.. I have seen your comments and some of your questions in Ask us. Its so obvious that your a crazy SRK fan. Be honest, please…. like Fathiya. Because even tho I disagree with her most often.. I love her comments. She is atleast honest about what she feels!!!!

Now Fathiya… Shahrukh Khan was part-great part-filty in RNBDJ. He was very very good as Surinder but filty, ugly, disastrous, yucky, over the top as Raj… He deserves nothing more than Best supporting actor if he could just be awarded for Surinder’s part

Are you serious about the film being his greatest performance ever? Have you seen CDI or Swades?

The only thing i dont like about Filmfare is.. that they are not consistent. in 2004 SRK won for Swades… it was a boxoffice disaster. How can they award it the Best actor award if it indeed is the popular category? He should have got the Critics award not the popular.

Hrithiik won Best actor for D2 in 2007.. suddenly they decided to go based on popularity.. when Krrish was by far his better performance that year. I still dont why and how D2 was better than Krrish.

The only time they got it right was last year (SRK) and in 2003 when Hrithik won best actor critics and popular.

This year am really very happy. Hrithik’s performance in JA was not just the best performance of the year but also the most popular. Keep going Hrithik… UR THE BEST!

It also feels special to know, almost everytime both Hrithik and Filmfare fav SRK have been nominated for best actor. Hrithik has beaten SRK.

    1. 2001 – KNPH beat Mohobbatein
    2. 2004 – KMG smashed everything including Kal Ho Na Ho
    3. 2007 – D2 beat KANK and Don (how was SRK even nominated for these films is beyond me tho)
    4. 2009 – JA won beating Rab ne and Ghajini

What more can you ask for being a Hrithik fan !! God’s great!

P.S : It would be a huge surprise if Hrithik doesnt win in 2009 too. Kites will be a epic performance if its a hit then he will win for sure. Aamir in 3 Idiots is more like a supporting role (like RDB) with 2 other very talented actors. SRK might not have a release this year.

Would love to read RC Patel’s, ADB’s and Fathiya’s comments on this. Others are welcome tooooooo!

  • Mr Suniel, you are a man after my own heart, and all your words are wonderfully accurate. However, I am not a fan of any particular actor or actress. I am a fan of quality and effort which is why SRK does not fall on my list of commendable actors, because he is so sure of his popularity that he makes no efforts whatsoever to improve his performances. I liked him in Swades but that was due to Ashutosh’s determination to curtail SRK’s normal exuberance. Also, his roles in Veer Zara and Chakhde India were such that he just could not behave in his usual way. Otherwise, his performances have been borderline irritating, especially Devdas, Don, KANK, Om Shanti Om, and Rab Ne Banadi Jodi. You are right – If there were awards for half performances then he could be given one for his role as Surinder, but his persona as Raj was just “awful”!
Nevertheless, he will always be nominated for all his roles because that is just the way it is with Bollywood royalty of which SRK is a leading member.

Being a fan of quality and effort, the young and dashing Hrithik has made admirable progress with stellar performances from Kaho Na Pyar Hai right upto Jodha Akbar. If he had not announced his marriage so quickly after Kaho Na Pyar Hai, his romantic films like Yaadein and Mujhse Dosti Karoge would have done well. I was disappointed that his role in Laakshya was just overlooked. He did pretty well in this film. However, I did not enjoy his performance in Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon and Aap Mujhe Ache Lagne Lage. But all in all, an admirable record so far.

I also feel actors such as Shahid Kapoor and Rajeev Khandelwal have great potential, but it will be tough for them to get past the Bollywood royalty. Considering all the other categories of the Filmfare Awards, it is nothing short of a miracle that the top three awards went to Jodha Akbar. And for that, we must all stand up proudly and say “Surely, God tussi great ho!”

I have tried but I have failed to understand my dear friend Fathiya’s fixation on SRK. She is completely unable to see his flaws which are so glaringly obvious to us all. Anyway, I wish her all the best and SRK should be thankful for such blind loyalty from his fans. He should also be grateful for the loyalty of Karan Johar without whom his future would look quite bleak at the moment.

Lastly, I do not think we can look forward to yet another Hrithik sweep next year. I feel so because Kites is in English [correct me if I am wrong] and may receive treatment like the Last Lear in our awards ceremony. I do not know if it is good or bad that Hrithik does such few films but I guess quality is more desirable than quantity.

Allow me to sign off now…

  • i think aamir khans 3 idiots will score over the other two films. or it could even be a tie between MNIK and 3 idiots. however, all 3 films should do well.

are all three films releasing at the same time ? i hope they are.
