Film industry supports Sanjay Dutt

The conviction of Sanjay Dutt by the Supreme Court in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case has left the Hindi film industry in shock. The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld Dutt’s conviction under the Arms Act for illegally possessing weapons, and sent him to five years imprisonment.

Dutt will spend three years and six months in prison, as he has already served a year and a half of his sentence.

Here is what Bollywood celebrities had to say..

  • Mahesh Bhatt: Heart Broken. Just heard that Sanjay Dutt has to go to jail for five years. I expected mercy! Alas, it did not happen.
  • Hrithik Roshan: I cannot comprehend. I know d law is d LAW. But I can bet my Life 2 say that Sanju sir doesn’t deserve this! D most loved man!i stand for Sanjay dutt.
  • Bipasha Basu: Saddened and shocked with d news about Sanjay Dutt’s Jail sentence. Strength to him and his family.
  • Kunal Kohli: The real planners of the 1993 blasts are sitting safely in Pakistan. Till they are brought to book, justice will not be served. The 1993 blast case should not be made about Sanjay Dutt.
  • Arshad Warsi: I am numb, I don’t know what to say. Sanjay Dutt is not a criminal. This is too harsh a decision.
  • Karan Johar: I am truly shattered to hear of Sanju’s sentence.. the nicest guy I have known just doesn’t deserve this. My heart goes out to him.
  • Pritish Nandy: Sad for Sanjay Dutt. He is paying for what was an act of folly. He is no traitor. He made a mistake. He is paying for it. Hugely. The real conspirators of the Bombay blasts must be brought back to India and tried. Sanjay’s trial is just part of collateral damage. I will be very sad to see Sanjay Dutt go back to jail… where I used to meet him years ago. A second term will destroy the man. The strange dichotomies of life. A fine Supreme Court judgement on the Bombay blasts. But yes, Sanjay Dutt is my friend. I am sad for him. I am amazed how ranters obfuscate issues. Sanjay Dutt goes to jail for possession of illegal arms. Not for the Mumbai blasts.
  • Vishal Dadlani: I stand with Sanjay Dutt, always will. He’s my brother. He made mistakes, but he’s served more than his time, in terms of mental stress. I am not contesting or denying the law, but it breaks my heart that he has to face this. He has done so much, so selflessly for so many! When I barely knew him, I needed some personal help in a family matter. I just asked, and Sanjay went above and beyond duty to help. I’m not denying the law. But am I not allowed to feel sad for a friend?
  • Shekhar Ravijani: He’s the most loved person in the business. One of the nicest people I know. Man with a big heart. My brother. I am with Sanjay Dutt.
  • Ashish Chowdhry: There are bad guys, there are nice guys. Sanjay Dutt most definitely is the latter. By far he’s the kindest and nicest guy I know. I’m really sad.
  • Aftab Shivdasani: Sad to know the verdict on Sanjay Dutt, my heart goes out to him and his family. He was a fighter, is one and will always be one.
  • Celina Jaitly: I am shocked to hear the verdict on Sanjay Dutt. My heart goes out to the Dutt family. We all love you Mr Dutt.

  • What does it mean that the real planners are sitting in PAKISTAN. I can’t believe he added Pakistan to his comment, he wants to show his love for Sanju, he is right, but by adding Pakistan, if he thinks he made his point, he is completely wrong!

  • Kunal Kohli… you hurt my feelings! I am from Pakistan… and We are also targeted with bombs etc every month. You don’t know our situation. Before blaming anyone else first check yourself or people in your country. But We never blame India for bombs.. It is another party. There is no specific place for Terrorists. They can be found anywhere in this world. Osama was found here so that does not mean all terrorists live here. Please kindly change your words (I know he will not see this message)

  • what the hell konal kohli saying…its mean that the supreme court decision is wrong..haha grow up konal kohli…u r still in dreams..hate u

  • Feel so sad for Sanju Baba.. specially at a time when bigger and real criminals like Salman khan are roaming free on the streets.. We are with you Baba.. You definitely did not deserve this.

  • @star srk is still walking the streets but hopefully the Wankhede Stadium incident can be brought to court very soon so srk cam get his comeuppance.
    :-)

  • @remotecontrol Wishful thinking on your part but it goes something like this:
    Last week ‘xzone’ :D
    Yesterday Sanju baba :-(
    Today srk ;-)
    Tomorrow ‘remotecontrol’ :-P

  • @star

    ha ha ha ha…

So you think Salman’s crime is more big than Sanjay’s.

Salman involved in a acident case.
Where as Sanjay helped enemies of our country in 1993 bomb blast where too many people killed.

Its a terrorist activity which is such huge than a accident case.

But you think Sanjay is inocent than Salman.

Is it your love towards justice or the words of frusteted Srk fans words to save his idols career which is over shadowed by Salman’s stardum.
