The trade had huge expectations from Emraan Hashmi’s Ek Thi Daayan, but to say the response has been underwhelming would be an understatement for the kind of opening the film has taken in the morning.
The occupancy for the morning shows was around 30-35% across India, even lower at several ‘mass centres’ where Hashmi films usually open well.
While business did pick up slightly for the noon shows, it was still in the 35-40% range. The opening was lower than Emraan’s last few commercial hits like Raaz 3, Murder 2 and Jannat 2. The first day collections will be lower than all his films in the last two years, except Shanghai and Rush.
On the positive side of things, critics have received the film well. So Ek Thi Daayan might pick up over the weekend and put up decent numbers.

When spl 26 got 30% opening every website said decent. But now for ETD they are saying 35% opening is poor..LOL.
It is very good movie.specially first half was one of the best scary scenes ever first half of movie is not for faint heart people.but after interval it was just ok.but overall it is very good movie.3.5/5

i think this screen booking drama is also created by srk for publicity,
because there is no official announcement from utv on screen booking.even there is no confirmed release date
first day is 8 crorses movie take average start , movie is not like sadakchap story, movie have excellent content
Its music had a lot to do with this kind of opening. Although, I am pretty sure that it will pick up as it’s receiving mostly positive reviews by the critics.
the movie will flop as usual to everu emraan movies!!and it was mindless move to release during IPL season…not every movie can perform like housefull 2 and collect 140 crores during IPL…for that you need Akshay kumar. even sallu fears to release a movie during IPL…then what about this B-grade actor emraan hashmi who acts only in kissing movies. grow up guys.
