Ek Thi Daayan has collected Rs 5.5 – 5.75 on it’s opening day at the box office. The opening on Friday morning was around 30%, but the film had better occupancy for the evening and night shows at multiplexes.
The problem for Ek Thi Daayan was the single-screen business at mass-centres, where Hashmi films always open well. The actor’s last major release Raaz 3 collected 10.5 crore on it’s opening day.
Ek Thi Daayan stands 6th in the list of highest opening day box office collections of Emraan Hashmi films.

Debutant director Kanan Iyer’s horror flick Ek Thi Daayan, produced by Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj, has got on to an average start. The film earned Rs 6.24 crores on the opening day (Friday) and early predictions say that the film will continue to be steady on the weekend. The Emraan Hashmi, Huma Qureshi, Kalki Koechlin and Konkona Sen Sharma starrer saw an average response in the morning and noon shows (the occupancy ranged between 40-50%), but the film witnessed improvement in evening and night shows.
Ek Thi Daayan‘s first day collections are quite below par, considering that Emraan Hashmi’s last release Raaz 3 had earned Rs 10.47 crore on the opening day. Trade prediction is that Ek thi daayan might continue to do average business and recover its investment.
