The Eid period has given the industry and fans several blockbusters over the years. This year is likely to be no different as KICK has opened to outstanding numbers, which should ensure that the film goes on to be Salman Khan’s highest grosser and his first 200 crore grosser.
- Both Chennai Express and Ek Tha Tiger had a better release period than Kick. Chennai Express released after Eid and had three holidays in its first week at the box office – Eid, Sunday, Independence Day. Ek Tha Tiger also had three holidays – Independence Day, Sunday, Eid. KICK released on a non-holiday and has two national holidays – Sunday and Eid.
- KICK has released on significantly higher number of screens 4100, compared to 3300 of Ek Tha Tiger and 3650 screens that Chennai Express released on.
- Chennai Express was the first film to cross 100 crore in its first weekend at the box office, although only after including collections from paid previews.
- Kick was the only film to show growth on its second day at the box office, but that was only because it released on a non-holiday.
- Chennai Express was the only film to compete against a big film like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara on its 7th day of release. OUATIMD had a limited release on Independence Day.
- Kick is the only film without an established director or leading heroine. Ek Tha Tiger was directed by Kabir Khan (New York) and starred Katrina Kaif (most popular leading lady in 2012). Chennai Express was directed by Rohit Shetty (Singham, Golmaal series) and featured Deepika Padukone (most popular leading lady in 2013)

I saw the movie and what a movie. Blockbuster all the way.
It will not collect 200 crs.
And indicine in the name of comparison stop giving excuse against other films and for KICK.
Definetly Kick will beat Ek tha Tiger but not sure about CE
MY REVIEW ON KICK:
telugu kick was more about comedy than action. But in hindi kick,you would find more action.
I was very much excited before watching the movie.it started well. But then it became flawed and then even more flawed. It’s a movie which is highly unrealistic,senseless,illogical and manipulative. If dhoom 3 was an unrealistic movie ,kick will be the “father of unrealisticness”. The first half was a major let down, it was boring.it tried hard to be funny,but not funny at all.second half was better than the first one.but it was not great either.
The technical points were not as terrible as jai ho,ready and ready. Still, The direction was below average. Screen play and editing were major let down. Many scenes were looking over-dramatic like the scene of devi’s mom reaction while seeing devi and his father in drunk state, the scene between the woman(who gave salman prices later) and salman in the temple.
The fighting scenes in the entire movie were highly senseless.devi,being a common man, broke the ribs,femur and girdles bones of the guards in the lab of nawaz. Moreover, Devil threw nawaz into the wall,which was again disgusting. There was a scene when randeep hooda tries to catch devil and the Bus,drived by devil goes through a huge destruction and fire after a blast.but there was not even a single damage mark on the bus.
As for the performances,nawaz siddiqui played his role well. Salman was good at action, suprisingly played the emotional part well too.jacquiline was looking stunning. Archana singh had a limited role,but even in a single scene,she has overacted badly.other supporting people were okay.
Music was good. Loved the picturization of hang over.
CONCLUSION:i thought kick will be different from salman’s regular masala.but, i was wrong. It is the most senseless big budget movie of the year so far. The good points were nawaz and those action scenes in 2nd half.

If the comparison is made daywise between Kick and chennai exp then look at chennai exp 4th day and 5th day collection which is 12.62 crore and 11.50 cr while Kick will easily collect more than this today and tomorrow it will collect more than double means kick day 5 will be more than double of chennai exp day 5.lol

Kick recorded the third highest opening three days collections ever. The fact it got to 80 crore nett plus on pre Eid without a holiday makes it even better. The film is only behind Dhoom 3 and Chennai Express. Dhoom 3 had a normal weekend while Chennai Express had a holiday weekend.

Where as Kick did 82crs & Dhoom3 did 94crs & both are non-holiday releases.

Difference between producers & BOI figures are as follows:-
CE had 6crs difference in first weekend & lifetime figures by producers are 226crs which are 18 crs higher than BOI Figures which are 208crs..
Whereas incase of Kick upto first weekend both Producers & BOI figures are nearly same.
Kick wont cross even YJHD like Krrish 3. Though Roshan people manipulated collections to 244 crore.
now entire media is shouting pre-eid pre-eid when kick has failed to beat dhoom 3.Pre-Eid probably does not hit collections as badly as pre Diwali.How many crore kick must have added if there was not pre-eid effect…another 15 crore…30 crore or 50 crore.
@Samar : If you are comparing the last 7 films, then you have to consider many factors. let me tell you those factors.
1) RNBJ released in 2008 Dec, and it was the higest grosser at that time with 86 crores. Even though Ghajini broke the record in 2-3 weeks, 86 crores can be considered as huge in 2008. Now take the collections of Salman khan movies in 2008 period…you can see the difference. Same thing applies for Chakde India and MNIK. If a movie like Chakde release now, it will easily break all records as very rarely we will get such movies with Excellent Word out Mouth
2) For comparison, you are taking producers figures for Salman Khan movies and BOI figures for SRK movies…Thats not fair buddy…If CE is 208 crores, then Ek Tha Tiger is 186 crores accoring to BOI. If you take producers figures, then ETT is 199 and CE is 227. So kindly make it fair.
3) These 100 crore trend started from 2008, but it got increased from 2011 onwards…So SRK had a huge gap from MNIK to Ra One. And he did 2 movies in 2011 and just one movie each in 2012 and 2013. So in these period, Salman did 2 movies each in every year. So it will be fair if the comparison happens from their first 100 crore grossers. That means Dabangg(2010) for salman and Ra One (2011) for SRK. Now consider the world wide gross of these movies…You can see SRK has higher gross collections than Salman in 2011 even with heavily Negative review movies like Ra one.
4) In these period, Salman never had a clash in his releases and got maximum free run for his movies. SRK had a huge clash in 2012 with SOS and in 2013 with OUATMA. JTHJ is a romantic drama so the scope is less in Box office, but still its a 200+ crore grosser world wide. And for CE, the screens got reduced to half from 8’th day onwards, still CE crossed 3 Idiots to become the highest grosser ever.
5) Last but not the least, just have a look at both of their movies. Salman is doing the same thing again and again. Taking some south movies and remake to make maximum money. See the movies from SRK, each movie is different. If he wants, he can also make these south remakes and break records. With just one masala movie , he was able to break 3 Idiots record that salman had failed to break in 4 years. So everyone can make blockbusters with their star power, just that SRK loves to do different movies without caring much about the box office stats.

Still remember during ce release, sallu fans were behaving like charted accounts by saying ce didn’t beat the 3 idiots inflation adjusted collection.. So now its your turn to beat inflation adjusted collection of ce and dhoom3 which are 253 crs for ce and 289 crs of dhoom3..

Its very unfair to compare Ek tha tiger,,chennai express weekend numbers with Kick weekend numbers…Ek tha tiger got only 1 holiday in itz First 3 days datz da first day,, cz 2nd & 3rd day were working days,, whereas Chennai Express 2 national holidays and 1 half holiday and on the other hand Kick got only 1 holiday,, so logistically it does not make any sense to compare the 3 releases…even if Kick is released in way more screens and hiked ticket Price
