Now that Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has completed a record-breaking first week at the box office, it’s time to compare the collections of Eid releases in the last 4 years.
On Eid, a new record has been set every year. In 2012, Ek Tha Tiger broke the record of Bodyguard and got very close to becoming the highest grosser of all time, falling short by just 3 crore. In 2013, Shahrukh Khan conquered the box office by not only breaking the previous Eid records, but delivered the industry’s highest grosser of all time when Chennai Express successfully broke the 4-year-old record of 3 Idiots.
In 2014, Salman’s Kick surpassed Chennai Express by a small margin. This year, Salman has conquered the box office yet again, smashing the records of all previous films. ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has already gone past the worldwide gross of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and will eventually beat both ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Kick’.
The only Eid record that the Salman Khan starrer might find difficult to beat, is the 120 crore overseas collections of ‘Chennai Express’. Even that is not out of reach, as Bajrangi Bhaijaan has collected Rs 84 crore in Week 1 at the overseas box office.

if Eid had fallen on Monday for Chennai express and if it had not also clashed, then it would not have been only the highest grossing movie of 2013 but also it could enter 300 crore in india ….!!!

CE got 1 open week.It released on Eid day so no Pre-Eid factor.
It got Independence Day Holiday on 8th day & everyone knows Srk released screens to OATIMD on day 9.
OATIMD got utter -ve response & CE got screens back from 11th day & 12th day was Raksha Bandhan holiday.
For more Srk fans should compare first week of CE & Kick as both had solo first week & CE had almost half release on Thursday.
Still Srk fans crying & they will through their entire life.
ETT faced almost 8 days in Pre-Eid period.
Kick faced 5 days.
I am not giving excuse but its for those Srk fans who cry for pre-Diwali day.
And now masterpiece Bajrangi Bhaijaan…when it released it had big Baahubali infront of it which affected 70% business from south & nearly 10% from north.
Also just 1 holiday that too on Saturday.
Still Bajrangi Bhaijaan running like a storm & giving neck-to-neck to PK.
& as we are Salman fans we really dont mind clash.Even if Baahubali released on Eid then also BB collection would same like now.
& i really wont that Bajirao Mastani should get postpone in January 2016 & Dilwale get solo release so Srk fans not came with excuse with crying clash clash.
