Eid or Diwali, holiday release matters a lot: Salman Khan

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who has delivered blockbusters like Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2 during the holiday season, continues his trend with EID this week.

Khan believes choosing the right dates to release films is extremely crucial for a film to be a huge success, as people “die to see” films.

He said: “Be it Eid or Diwali, the holiday season matters a lot. There is no release during Ramadan, so when a film releases during this period, people die to see that film. Again with Diwali being a festive season, people want to go and see the film with family.”

Usually one big movie comes on each festival, but Salman is of the view that “Diwali, Holi, Republic Day, Christmas – they can accommodate three to four films.”

While we didn’t quite understand the ‘three to four films’ part, we wonder if Salman would be up for a clash in the next few years as producers scramble to block their films for festive weekends.

  • Salman please do a film on non-holiday,then we will know your star power….

Khans have almost fixed it now…no film except a holiday release…

  • @vikram
ETT was released on wednesday(15th Aug)…thursday n Fri were not holidays:56crs

CE had paid preview on Thursdat,Friday (Eid Holiday),Saturday,Sunday:100crs

  • I won’t tell Khans are nothing without Holidays but certainly many of their films would have missed 100crs if they had released on non-holidays…
    JTHJ
    Don 2
    Ra one
    Jai Ho
    Bodyguard

  • @Vikrm, salman’s non holiday release Ready collected 123cr net nd ur king’s non holyday release yljk collected 31lac net. Now tell who is bigger star?

Also ETT collected 33cr on its opening day nd ur king’s lungi express collected 31cr on the opening day even with 800more screens… So who has more star power.

  • Kick day 1- 36 Crores
    Lifetime- 260 crores +

@Babaji ka thullu, who prevents Akki n Duggu releasing their movies together with Khans’ films released in Holidays? Why dare not they clash with their films? Akki had a chance to clash last year. That too he lost it.
@Sickrum, babaji ka thullu has already answered u I think.

  • Indicine what about Don2 pls give all movies information Chritsmas was on sunday in 2011 and this Babaji Says It was Holiday Release.

  • @Babaji Ka Thullu, Jai Ho didnt have any extra holiday because Republic day fell on Sunday.
@Vik, CE benefitted a lot from Salman’s hug to Sarkar. It was first time after their spat.

  • Tigeress – SRK’s non holiday off beat film mnik collected 75 cr while ur bhais holiday rekease marigold 90 lakhs only

  • Feative release or national holiday surely helps a film to earn 10-15% more than it can earn in normal season but it is wrong to blv that it can guarantee b.o. success.
Ex-tmk,boss,jaanemaan,ouatimd,ra.one,kyun ki,besharam all of ehich failed at b.o. deapite holiday advantagem.

  • @Anand
Sarkar played a wrong game last year, otherwise i think even being such a crap film OUATIMD could still have gone past 100crs or atleast near to 100crs…it was released on thursday with very less screens

  • I request all Muslims not to watch Kick during Ramadan especially last few days are very sacred. Don’t spoil your 25 days of fasting by watching movie. You see the name of Salman Khan in the movie is devil and you guys going to watch devil in the holy month of Ramadan where all the devils are chain locked???. Please think over it. These star take away all your hard earned money and they feel they are above God!

  • @mataji ki paylagu, jai ho was a holyday release? May b 23jan is birthday of JADU, so it was a holyday for u rohit fans. Bodyguard collected 143cr nd it had only one holiday(eid), how can even think one day added 50cr collection to it?

Also collecting 100cr in holydays is way better thn collecting 200cr with the help of the territory MANIPULATIONPUR (rohit 3 collected 70cr here).

  • babaji it wasnt shahrukh who was responsible foh ouatimd fate.. u are more a srk hater dan an akshay fan. ouatimd was a real pathetic movie n even it wud hav released wid 10 back 2 back holidays it wudnt hav crossed 100 crs.
n shahrukh dont want clashes.. not becoz he fears to loose but bcoz he knws nomatter wot one movie wil eat into anothers business…. n also history says it all whether its jaaneman or sos shahrukh has always won a clash.. n um not talkin abt pre 2000 or 2000-02 period…bcoz shahrukh wasnt dat big star like he is nowadays.. though he was stil no 1 dose dayz

  • Wtf are you talking babaji, our ch akki was not even promotion outim2 properly n even 70 crs for a movie like ouatim was over deserving. Chennai Express completely crushed it with only 1900 screens from second Friday itself

  • @Vikram

    CE 100crs in 3.5days
    D3 100crs in 3 days and 200crs in 10days flat..

    Thats star power for you!!!

  • @vikram ett did 60+cr on 3 days and babaji told u the reason why also ce did 100 cr includin paid previews(7 cr) and @ babaji jai ho can’t be considered a holiday release and bodyguard could have done 100 cr easily as it was carrying a huge buzz
