Dum Laga Ke Haisha Box Office Opening

Yash Raj Films’ Dum Laga Ke Haisha has taken a poor start at the box office this morning. The average all-India opening is around 10% and there are reports that a few shows had to be cancelled as noone turned up to watch the film.

The iconic production house has steadily declined in the last year or so, not just in terms of box office numbers, but the content and music of YRF films has failed to impress the audience.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha is YRF’s 5th back-to-back poor opening at the box office after Bewakoofiyaan, Mardaani, Dawaat-e-Ishq and Kill Dil.

After the disastrous Hawaizaade and Bewakoofiyaan, the opening of Dum Laga Ke Haisha is yet another setback for the talented Ayushmann Khurrana.

Moving on to the more positive side of things, the reports from the early morning shows are good. The film has to show huge growth starting from the evening shows today, to have any chance of doing well at the box office. The costs are much lower than Hawaizaada, but the film still has to collect around 20-22 crore to recover costs through theatrical business.

Meanwhile, the other release this weekend, Ab Tak Chappan 2 has also taken a poor start. Some centres in Mumbai circuit are decent, everywhere else the film is a washout.

  • Steps for ayushmann to becum atleast star ……

    1) do affair rumour ….

    2) do cheap tactics like getting in news…..

    3) change surname to KAPOOR like ayushmann KAPOOR …..

    4) Becum boney Kapoor son …..

  • Dum Lagaa ke Haisha can do well but for that it has do really well on Saturday and Sunday . Also it has to maintain well on Weekdays . I agree with you @ Indicine that YRF is making bad films one after another except Mardaani . I think in recent times all movies released before and after Mardaani have been flops . Waiting for your review and let’s hope it is a good movie . Ayushmann badly needs a Hit and if this movie flops it will be very difficult for AK because it will be his 4th back to back failure after Nautanki Saala, Bewakoofiyaan and Hawaizaada . If the movie is good and still it is a flop then YRF should be blamed for taking the wrong decision to prepone the movie .

  • @Indicine,

It would be great service to Indian movie goers, esp. of hindi movies, if top website, like yours, give reviews of such small budgeted film first rather than giving what the opening is.

the movie doesn’t have any superstar, so we are not expecting any earth shattering collections.

we need the review of the movie, and if it is positive and brilliant, it would be great to check it out in the weekend itself. Hence, a movie review, is the very first thing, we expect from you of such cinemas.

Bigger websites like your will help such movies garner more attention and better their collection with positive w-o-m. This will surely encourage a change and make directors and makers much bolder to do similar movies in future.

  • @ajinkya but I don’t think that boney kapoor son is a star…..in fact ayushman career will further deteriorate if he becomes his son at least he is talented rt now:)

  • @ajinkya but I don’t think that boney kapoor son is a star…..in fact ayushman career will further deteriorate if he becomes his son at least he is talented right now

  • Ranveer & Arjun is responsible for YRF,s bad phase :P Ranveer is much better actor than Arjun. But truth is both r not good looking.

  • Rating: 4/5 (Four stars)

Star Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar

    Director: Sharat Katariya

What’s Good: Surprisingly, YRF’s most honest film amongst the recent times. It is a great script filled with nostalgia for those who have grown up in the bygone era of 80s and 90s. There is incredible detailing of characters and it is enough to find an instant connect. Dum Laga Ke Haisha could be a mirror for quite a lot people who have first hand experience of such situations.

What’s Bad: If only the director had stuck to creating a bond between its characters without the help of the competition. Also a scene or two in the second half were easily avoidable as they bring no effect to the story. Some may find it slow, although the pace was fine for me.

Loo break: Utilize the interval only!

Watch or Not?: After really long, we come across a love story that is real and incredibly believable. Watch Dum Laga Ke Haisha for its natural flavour minus the drama. This film will entertain you throughout its run time.

  • @ajinkya: hey buddy do u really think he has to change his name to khan or kapoor ..!! What made u to think like that ?? Height of hypocrisy… bipasa is making rumors with karan N where is she now ..?? What abt tusar kapoor ..n aditya roy kapoor..wat abt abishek bhachan ..he is kid of mega star amitabh ..wat abt fradeen khan ?? U can see to hrithik rosan nn do u think he is here today because of his papa ..?? If u think so then u r the biggest dumb I av ever seen .. u ddont know how bollywood works ?? Its not abt surname or star kids its really doesnt bother ..n neither its abt talent .. every one is talent in bollywood there is no doubt and off course aayusman has a talent but u need to understand that stardom comes for only some plp …salman aamir srk ajay akshya n hrithik ..they av some crasmatic face in silver screen for whom people accept them in any phases ..bad or gud ..!! See srk n akshya they r not star kid n they r gud luking n talent ..but the reason they r here still fo 2 decades is that, they have that kind of crasmatic face that appeal a real hero .. and salman n aamir even they r here not because of their parents but the crasmatic face that goes for any generation ..because of them khans , devgan , kumar n rosan the surname became a brand in bollywood ….its not abt talent acthing toh rakhi sawant aur tusar kapoor bhai karta hai yaar ..to kya huwa !!

  • @Ajinkya : srry to say but Every star kid is not Salman, Amir, Ajay or hrithik and every outsider is not Srk n Akshya ..these plp are destiny’s child n plp luv them on silver screen they are born to be a HERO ..others are jus struggler thats why always we all fan fight for our respective hero.. by the way m salman khan die hard fan …but when I see some dumb plp jus compete this new comer actor with these legend then I feel very bad ..jus writing my vadas ..rest all peace ..

  • @indicine,why r u stating that,#dlkh needs 22 crore to recover, when the cost of prod. seems not more than 10 crore & P&A was also very minimum & release size was also small!

  • Wrong choice of movies costing Ayushman. He will be out of work if he gets another flop / disaster. A talent went down the drain !!!!!!
