Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji starring Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Omi Vaidya, Shruti Haasan, Shazahn Padamsee, Shraddha Das amongst others; has opened to a good response at the box office. The weekend collections are in the 15 crores nett range from all over India.
The film opened to a slow start on Friday and picked up during the later part of the opening day. Business on Saturday and Sunday was good. If the drop isn’t huge on weekdays, the Week 1 collections should be around 22 – 25 crores, which is decent for a film made on a budget of less than 30 crores (including print and marketing costs).
DTBHJ is also the biggest opener for a Madhur Bhandarkar directed film, his last biggest being the Priyanka Chopra starrer Fashion.
The film marks the end of an extremely successful month for Bollywood. January has witnessed three films that have done well at the box office – Noone Killed Jessica, Yamla Pagla Deewana and Dhobi Ghat. If DTBHJ can sustain during the weekdays, it would join the list, to take the total of successful films to 4, which is a rarity in Bollywood, especially in the first month of the year.
