The trailer of Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do is out! The movie stars Anil Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Shefali Shah.
Dil Dhadakne Do is Zoya’s third film after ‘Luck By Chance’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. It’s about a dysfunctional Punjabi family, who decide to go on a vacation of their lifetime.

While I loved the quirkyness of the trailer, I think most indian filmmakers are falling into the trap of repeating the same story in “different” way. It looked so much like ZNMD!
The same, “A holiday which changes the life” theme.
Just look how many of our top filmmakers have become formulaic!
1. Madhur Bhandarkar:
– Innocent girl stuck in cruel, dirty world. The world changes in every film. Be it corporate, fashion, or film industry. Approach remains same!
2. Rajkumar Hirani:
– A nonconformist who tackles system and brings it down to the toes in the most humble manner. Doctors, Education, religion, again the world is changing. But the approach is same!
3. SLB:
Okay this will piss off some people, but his approach is again the same. A character with physical inabilities or a failed love story.
Now Zoya Akhtar joins the list. With “life-changing” journey theme. Though I love their films it’s sad that filmmakers today are retelling their own classics.

OK trailer not as good as znmd maybe due to my disliking for ranveer and he was all through it(sorry can’t help it). Wanted more of farhan!
Got to admit though, the trailer has incredible repeat value and the film will surely be worth watching. Anil Kapoor and Farhan look in top form! Ranveer was also quite good.
