Dhoom, Dhoom 2 or Dhoom 3? Vote for the best film

The first Dhoom film, written by Vijay Krishna Archaya (who went on to direct the third film in the series) and directed by Sanjay Gadhvi released in 2004 featuring John Abraham as a supercool-villain, Abhishek Bachchan as ACP Jai Dixit and Uday Chopra as Ali.  The film, which introduced super-bikes to the Indian audiences, was well-received  and went on to collect around Rs 29.5 crore at the domestic box office.

2 years later, the sequel was made with a much bigger star cast – Hrithik Roshan replaced John Abraham, Abhishek and Uday were retained, Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu were added to the cast to up the glamour quotient. However, when the film released it was Hrithik who walked away with the top honours, including the Filmfare trophy for Best Actor. Dhoom 2 also went on to be the highest grosser of 2006, ahead of Hrithik’s previous release Krrish.

Due to the tremendous popularity and success of the franchise, there were new rumours regarding the star cast of the film almost every other day. Various unknown sources unofficially confirmed names like Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan to replace Hrithik and take the franchise forward. However, on 2nd January 2011, YRF officially announced that they had signed Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif to play the lead in Dhoom 3.

The film released on 20th December 2013 and much like the previous film, shattered every box office record worldwide.

All three films have been immensely successful and popular, but a lot of people still consider the first film to be best Dhoom film.

  • Dhoom 2 all the way.
HR’s style, charm, looks, chemistry with aish, eye connection were far better than amir.hro’s dance was great too.
Without 0.1% of doubts,i can easily say hrithik will remain as best theif even after 100 parts of dhoom series.

  • Dhoom 2 raised the bar for action movie.Hithrik was awesome.Action scenes were shown. One of the best male performance in 100years of hindi cinema.People still remember mr “A” .But they dont remember John’s name in dhoom.Hithrik made dhoom is own

  • HR’S dhoom again>>>>amir’s revenge 3 aka dhoom 3.
I missed dhoom spirit in dhoom 3.
@indicine:i don’t agree.most of the people prefer dhoom 2 becoz of its style and freshness.

  • The action sequences in Dhoom (2004) looked more realistic.
The best installment in Dhoom franchise is Dhoom and my favorite.
The newer versions are high on style and glamour but low on content.

  • I meant to say robbery scences were shown in Dhoom2.Even after 20yrs dhoom2 will still be watched and after that years i dont know if people will remember Aamir’ name
Aamir’s best performance as said by him but one of hithrik’s best performance has beaten him. That is saying a lot

  • I wil still go with the original dhoom film starring john.
@Nipun shouting shahrukh didnt deserved foh Ce… Well I too dont think hrithik deserved foh dhoom 2…wat was so special in it??. it was just another heist drama wid some above average performances… Hrithik was cool as a theif… But wasnt outstanding either

    • Dhoom 2 is the best as Hrithik and Aishwarya’s chemistry on screen was pitch perfect. The gadgets and masks that HR used for disguise were just amazing. I also liked the amazing storyline and songs ( especially “Dil Laga Na” and Crazy Kiya re. People will remember Mr. A, Sunheri, Jai Dixit, Ali and Shonali Bose.

  • Dhoom 2 was best followed by Dhoom and Dhoom 3 for me…
Dhoom 3 was too much over the top with many loopholes.

    Best Dhoom actors:
    Hrithik then aamir then john.

  • In this poll we might seen Dhoom2 winning for obvious reasons but there is no doubt the first is always remain best. Because if there is no Dhoom1 stylish and different in bollywood in 2004,then no D2 or D3 could happen. When i watched D3 the feeling and satisfaction i got that was best so for me D3 remain best for me with first impression while as per repeat watching Dhoom1 is the best,i can’t choose any one from these two. Slightly correction Dhoom2 became highest grosser in 2006 after surpassing Lage Raho Munnabhai because LRM net was greater than Krissh though distributer share was higher of Krrish.

  • If dhoom 2 be made 2013…??
    With more than 4000 screens..
It must be 800 crore worldwide..

Every single person gave their best performance in Dhoom 2

  • Each of the Film had their USPs.
Dhoom: Uniqueness, something never seen before stunts in Indian cinema.
Dhoom 2: HR style and Panache rising above a ordinary script and movie good.
Dhoom 3: Showcased a movie like Dhoom can have style with substance.
    My preference Dhoom 2 = Dhoom 3 >Dhoom.

  • Dhoom 2 was FULL of inexplainable loopholes:
1.The Queen looks exactly like Hrithik. WTF? What a coincidence! lol
2.Hrithik becomes statue but how did he reach in that room? Did noone see him walking?
3.None of the guards see the toy machine(which is big enough) picking up the diamond.
    4. Hrithik came into the museum from UNDERGROUND. After robbery, why he didnt go back the same way? Excuse for chase scene.
5.Smart thief easily fooled by lady.
    6. Hrithik jumps with old man music in one hole and after 3 secs jumps neighbouring waterhole without any makeup and with completely different clothes.
I can go on and on…..
@Nipun this is for you. You seem like a real knowlegdable person. But then you are extremely biased towards Hrithik.
Dhoom 2 is nowhere as good as Dhoom 3.
Dhoom 3 was a better film overall than Dhoom 2 though it may not be like a typical dhoom feel.

  • Dhoom was enjoyable and a good movie to start this series, but it felt like a Bike version of Fast & Furious. Acting wasn’t top notch, but style and spirit was there.

Dhoom 2 was most critically acclaimed movie of the series and was loved by majority of the audience. Its style, chemistry, music, action, dance were all great. It raised the bar of the series.

Dhoom 3 also raised the bar in terms of technology, but its similarity with the Prestige spoiled the surprise element for me, and the fact they didn’t show a single robbery sequence in a movie who’s theme is based on robberies was actually unexpected and disappointing. It was most emotional movie of the series though.

Dhoom 2 is undoubtedly best for me.

  • “Dhoom 3” is the best film of the series bcoz of it has better stunts, better story, better starcast, bigger budget, bigger verdict ATBB and can be called as the 1st global movie of bollywood bcoz it has crossed 500 crores worldwide.

  • it’s between Dhoom and Dhoom3, with the first part being slitly bettetr
Dhoom2 was disapointing as a film though Hrithik-Aish was the standing point!
