‘Dear Zindagi’ has collected Rs 8.75 crore on its opening day at the box office, making it the 14th highest opening day of 2016. The film is lower than Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro and ahead of films like Ki and Ka.
Released on 1200 screens, ‘Dear Zindagi’ has managed a fairly good opening total inspite of being a niche film, holding appeal only towards a small section of the audience in metro cities. Most of the business has come from these 4-5 cities, with others taking a better than expected opening due to Shah Rukh Khan’s presence.
In comparison, the opening day is higher than Deepika Padukone’s Piku – which collected 5.7 crore on Day 1. It’s at around the same level as ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’.

It is the first time indicine reporting lower than boi. Everyone claiming 9.5 crore beating mohenjo daro!. From 1200 screens, 9.5crore after note ban is simply superb!!! All coz of SRK star power! I watched it 3 times in Dubai, we’ll watch again! What a great movie with superb dialogues from SRK!

Ppl can make fun of SRK but it takes courage 2 do such roles where u r not leading d proceeding. Some scenes r standout.

Sometimes collections don’t matter when movie is masterpiece . with limited screens ,demonetization, without any promotion and with limited audience in spite of all these things dear zindagi has managed to earn 8.75 cr on its opening day is really very commendable for a small budget movie. Alia has performed very well and she should be appreciated for dear zindagi

How can his films not appeal to his fan base no matter it is niche or so? It doesn’t appeal, then he doesn’t have that huge audiences and is not the world’s biggest superstar. All are fabricated lies!
Else, imagine a film of a global superstar doesn’t even exceed 10 crores on its opening day. Indeed, in reality, the star pull of the dhobi king is equal to that of Ayushman that is limited to only niche section.
