Aamir Khan’s Dangal has recorded the second highest first week collections of all-time, ahead of all other films except the first week business of Salman Khan’s Sultan which released earlier this year.
Sultan is the only film to record more than 200 crore in the first week itself, but the film had the advantage of an extended 5-day weekend including 2 holidays for Eid and Sunday.
Dangal on the other hand, had just one major holiday – which was for both Christmas and Sunday.
The Top 5 is dominated by Salman and Aamir, each of their last 3 films have managed to make it to the Top 5.
This year, 7 films have managed to make it to the all-time Top 30 list.

The whole last week of December is a vacation period in most major cities (where Dangal is performing well) and you say there are no holidays. Schools and colleges in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore etc are closed. IT folks take off during the last week. How much more benefit does a Movie need?

It really should be an eye opening experience for the rest of bollywood. so its possible to get 40cr+ in a single day and 20cr + each day of the week. Wait for aamir khan next movie releasing on Diwali, it will be hard to collect 200 crores because it’s not Christmas or new year release. Aamir is Christmas and Salman Eid release stars. SRK got one Christmas release but with clash, Anand Rai next venture will rock on Christmas 2018, again SRK may clash with Krrish 4.

The 1st week calculation for both films is wrong, sultan was released on Wednesday, its week completion was next Tuesday, dangal released on Friday, and completed its week on Thursday, dangal won the 1st week battle even according to BOI.
Fact is SRK was the top star from 1993 upto 2006/7: Baazigar to OSO only because Aamir was doing offbeat movies like the earth, lagaan and mass appeal lacking movie. Aamir’s Mela ffs>>>>>>Veer zaara, CDI, MNIK, Mujhse shaadi karoge, wanted etc.
