Dangal Box Office Collections: Continues record-breaking 300 crore run

Aamir Khan’s Dangal is unstoppable at the box office, as the film has now crossed the 300 crore mark in just 13 days. The collections are beyond extraordinary. For the first time since the beginning of its run, Dangal has fallen below the 10 crore mark on a single-day.

Here are some staggering numbers:

  • Number of 40 crore plus days: One
  • Number of 30 crore plus days: Three
  • Number of 20 crore plus days: Nine

That’s a staggering number of 20 crore plus days, even the 2nd highest grosser of the year Sultan, only had five 20 crore or more days. Dangal has also beaten PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, both of which had six 20 crore plus days.

Dangal could become the highest grosser of all-time by the end of its third weekend, because it has yet another competition free week. But the way Dangal is running, next week’s Ok Jaanu could be more affected by the Dangal wave than the other way round.

Aamir Khan has yet another highest grosser of the year, taking his career-total to 7. The superstar reigns supreme at the box office once again during the weekend that he created and has dominated over the years.

  • Its baffling to see how little overseas info we have got from Indicine about a record breaking film like Dangal but when Pluto Boys crapfest arrives we will no doubt get daily updates about individual overseas territories like Pluto updates, North Korea update, Talibanstan update, Mordor update, URanus update, Porkistan update etc etc

  • I am big fan of Aamir Khan since QSQT. But never bashed others. That’s not what we do ( AK fans ). Aamir has different audience, not so active on social platform. Most of audience is family members who comes in groups. There are many more who comes to watch only his movies. His loyal fans don’t do bad mouthing about others. So my friends please stop bashing each other, enjoy and appreciate good work of others.
    Thanks.
    Happy new year.

  • @ EDX, dude whats your problem?

Do you have any idea about stardom? When an actor’s stardom is on the high, the makers of the movie wants to milk it to the last drop. Hence, they want to have the best release date that can maximise the collection.

Also, do you think the movies are fully funded by Salman-Aamir or Srk? If you are, then you are seriously have no clue on the working of bollywood.

Even the movies financed by big production houses like Dharma and YRF raise capital from the market. The investors of this capital want to have returns in double or triple digits, and hence they put the pressure or the production houses to get the most lucrative dates.

Currently a production house with movies of Hro, your favourite, or Akshay, one of my favourite, would not want to touch the date chosen by Aamir or Salman, simply because they do not have the confidence in taking these guys.

It will be a losing situation. It is as simple as accepting the situation and moving on. Even the investors of their movies know that it is simply illogical to clash with them, until unless they are ready to take the risk.

For example – Bajirao Mastani taking on Dilwale. The whole industry felt that BM would be destroyed. However, the investors were fully taken into confidence by Bhansali and he risked a huge gamble with it, and it paid off.

Such big gambles are huge risk and are not taken at every film, as I said, there are many people involved in financing a movie, and all cannot be taken in to confidence every time.

Why do you think Raees did not release with Sultan on Eid. The reason being the stardom of Salman Khan currently is huge compared to srk in the market.

A decade back Srk milked the Diwali holidays, cuz his stardom was at its peak then and market was confident of their return on investment.

In a few years when new superstars emerge they too will take the most lucrative period for releasing their movie so that the collections are maximised.

If a movie can collect on 400 cr on EDX and around 200 cr on non holiday, what do you think as a Maker yourself, you would do? You would definitely take EDX.

Now, a movie like Krrish is a brand, and hence it takes a holiday like Diwali to maximise the collection, while a movie like MJD cannot. The market demand for the movie along with stardom plays a big role.

Do you think when a Krrish movie releases, it is Hro or Rakeshji the ones deciding the dates of their movies? It is the financers who push them for the best dates to generate the maximum possible. The same investors are not so buoyant when it comes to Hro’s other genre films, while they are too much confident on Aamir on Salman to get the investment back. (there are exceptions too though, like Jai Ho, but still being the crappiest directed of all Salman’s movie it did 100 cr+ which cannot be said of Hro, Akshay or others)

  • I am back. So happy with dangal collections. Big slap on the face of all morons who were barking about raju hirani and dhoom brand all the time for Aamir’s unparalleled stardom and success. They are trolled bog time now.

  • Srk can replace dilip kumar and someone else can replace srk.
Salman can replace rajesh khanna and someone else can replace salman.

But Aamir is the only megastar who doesnt replace anyone nor anyone else can replace him.

  • SOME ACTORS WITH MAXIMUM HIGHEST GROSSER OF ALL TIME:
Aamir Khan: 5 (Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3, PK and Dangal (expected))
    Dilip Kumar: 2 (Aan, Mughal-E-Azam)
Raj Kapoor: 2 (Barsaat and Sree 420)
Salman Khan:2 (Maine Pyaar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hai Kaun!)
Shah Rukh Khan: 1 (Chennai Express)
    Amitabh Bachchan,Dharmendra: 1 (Sholay)
    Ashok Kumar: 1 (Kismat)
    Sunil Dutt: 1 (Mother India)
    Sunny Deol: 1 (Gadar)
    Hrithik Roshan: 1 (Dhoom 2)

  • @EDX : Why is your idol not getting a solo EDX release ? First figure that out then post your nonsensical predictions. Keep living in your Jadoo world !!!

  • At an ecpected 350+ crores nett, your LBO for Dangal has again failed. Even after a 30% error zone, you have failed. You suck.

    • Marlinspike Hall, mate, we aren’t astrologers or people with supernatural powers to get every prediction right. It’s just a prediction, we try to get it right, if not it’s no big deal. Films that go on to be highest grosser of all time or those that outperform expectations, cannot be predicted. Move on now.

  • @Nikhil no one has asked a jerk like you to come. If not interesyed then get out of here and dont bark. Stay in your collar and get a life. We all want to know only about dangal so shut your mouth and keep quiet.
