Dabangg 2 has gone past the lifetime collections of Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy rathore (Rs 135 crore net) in just 12 days, to be the second biggest grosser of 2012.
Much like 2011 (Bodyguard and Ready), Salman Khan now has the first and second highest grossers of 2012 – Ek Tha Tiger (Rs 199.3 cr) and Dabangg 2 (Rs 142 cr in 13 days).
With no competition till Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, which looks like a film targeted at the multiplex audience, Dabangg 2 is likely to surpass the lifetime collections of Dabangg (Rs 140 crore) and also cross the 150 crore mark.

- First Week – 106.5 crore
- 2nd Weekend – 21 crore
- 2nd Monday – 4.5 crore
- 2nd Tuesday (New Year) – 7.5 crore
- 2nd Wednesday – 3.25 crore
- Total Collections so far – 142.75 crores

for all those saying that dabangg 2 is a non holiday release – the fact is that it was christmas 2012 release…..it release on the christmas weekend……yes the opening 3 days didnt have a national holiday but its still a festive period release…..its still a holiday release……this christmas weekend is not the same as a regular weekend in the year……
PS: This is not to undermine the performance of the film which will cross 150 cr…..remember only 2 other films are higher than it…..so yea great performance…..

The film collected alot inspite of having a lot of obstacle like india-pakistan match, gangrape issue, non holiday release , cold wave etc. According to me it has not underperformed. Best of luck to Sallu.

@jag Talaash released on 2600 screens and was non holiday release that 2 in the middle of biggies …khiladi arrived a week later so not even a week run which but still did 94+ crores at box office and super hit overseas. Not a single movie did that sort of business with no holiday …1 week run and suspense genre….people may come and say Aamir talaash was bad didnt do well box office disaster and all that crap but in reality look at his power at box office ..first he delayed the release …released it on a non holiday …just a week before Khiladi 786 (which had superb music + akshay Khiladi brand) and then also did more then My name is Khan in India (another serious genre movie) and kahaani (almost same genre)..Aamir didnt sign any masala movie after 3 idiots otherwise he would have been on top but come 2013 when ‘Kaal Khan’ Or Jordan (his character name in dhoom 3) arrives there will be no stopping this khan. Dhoom itself is a brand …will be releasing on aamir’s fav date …plus if he can take a serious movie like Talaash to 94 crores + dont know what will be dhoom 3’s final box office figure…in 2006 dhoom 2 did 82 crores which was 7 years back so if we look at these figures be ready to 2 c a 250 to 300 crore movie…
