Chennai Express Box Office Opening Update

After starting its much-awaited journey at the box office on Thursday, Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express is on track to surpass the opening day record set by Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger last year.

The film is running to packed houses across the country, some places are below the mark but should pick up as the muslim section of the audience come out in numbers to watch the film.

Chennai Express is best in Mumbai, Mysore, West Bengal, South India, Nizam – where the morning and noon shows were in 85-90%. Delhi/UP is 65-70%, while business in Punjab is around 60%.

Still, with increased ticket prices, huge number of shows at every multiplex, the ‘family entertainer’ tag.. Chennai Express looks almost certain to cross the 30 crore mark, unless business dips towards the end of the day.

Saturday is holiday in most parts of the country, so Chennai Express has a reasonably good chance of crossing the 80 crore mark in its first weekend itself.

  • the problem of CE is that most of the critics gave 25-30% to watch the movie so in my view 120-cr overall collection

  • 30 cr with hiked ticket prices and increased screens as compared to ETT. Finally proven that its usually Salman alone who can smash his own records.

  • gr8 movie….don’t judge by listening sallu fans & few critics who even doesnt know which movie is good n bad…its a very clean n pure family entertainer.

  • Every one knows if any bollywood star who
can break overseas collection of srk that is
hrithik and any indian record of salman and
    amir is hrithik movie.
so guys who is the baap of all. bollywood
actor and boxoffice, say loudly he is
    HRITHIK ROSHAN.

  • Belle, Salmam had also hiked ticket prices for his film ETT. It also released on 3300 screens and on national and bigger holiday in india (independence day)

  • what a crap movie. Its only for srk fans. No action, no romance, boring songs. Its totally a disappointment for fans. Maximum 100 to 125 crore.

  • @indicine i dnt wnt b carried away by srk fans or haters , so pls do tell me wt wd b the minimum collections fr first day of this movie as per ur experience ?
    pls do reply?

  • Very few people expected ETT to collect 33 crores on opening day. We were predicting something around 25-30 crores. I think CE has good chance of touching 35 crores with larger screens and hiked ticket prices(it’s been hiked upto 40% more than usual). Still not sure about the weekend, though, as it has received mostly mixed reviews. Its real test will begin from Monday.

  • After Watching Chennai Express, My
    Review (Dil Se) :-
Film Ka First Part Kuch 20-25 Mins Tak
Apko Bilkul Maza Nhi Aayegi.. Full
    Pakao 1st 25 Mins !!
Then Story Thoda Strong Hota Hai…
Fun Scenes Boht Hay Lekin 60% Funny
Scene Me Apko Hasi Nhi Aayegi…
    Strong Funny Eliments Nhi Daala
    Gaya…
Jo 1 Weak Point Hai Film Ka, Film Ka
    1st Gaana 1 2 3 4 Boht Der Me Aata
Hai… Matlab Starting Ka Kuch 48-50
Mins Baad 1st Song Aata Hai..
1 Hr Khatam Hote Hi Kahani Phir Se
    Dhili Padh Jati Hai..
Then 35 Mins Phir Bore Hona Hoga
    Apko..
Intermisson Ke Baad ‘Titli’ Gaane Ke
Waqt Kahani Boht Weak Hai.. Fun
    Eliments Bilkul Nhi Hai… Kuch
    Emotions Hai Deepika Ka.. But
Deepika Ne Boht Hi Zyada Over Act
Ki… So Wo Waqt Apko Film Thoda
    Pakao Lage Gi…
Film Me Deepika Ki Jo Daddy Hai, Wo
Apne Character Se Bilkul Bhi Match
Nhi Hota… & Wo Acting Bhi Bilkul
    Acchi Nhi Kar Paya Hai…
Total Film Me Takreeban 30 Mins
Tamil Language Hai, Jo Apko Pasand
    Nhi Aayegi…
Film Ka Jo Clymax Hai, Wo Fight Se Ki
Gayi Hai.. & The Fighting Part Is Not
    Good… 90s Ke Zamane Fighting
    Sequences Dikhayi Gayi Hai…
Over All Film Ki Story Acchi Hai As A
Masala Film.. But Starting Ka 25
Mins, Middle Ka 35 Mins & Clymax Ka
    15 Mins Bilkul Pakao Hai…
    Shahrukh Khan Sahab Ne Acchi
Acting Ki Hai, He Tried To Be Too
    Much Funny But Something Is
    MissingLaga !
As A Rohit Shetty Film, This Is A
Dispointment Movie But As A Masala
Movie, It Is An Average Film…
Deepika Ki Acting Apko Surely Niras
    Karegi..
    Well, My Ratings :- 2/5 Stars !!
