Cash directed by Anubhav Sinha is an action packed thriller featuring Ajay Devgan, Suniel Shetty, Zayed Khan, Ritesh Deskmukh, Shamita Shetty, Esha Deol and Dia Mirza. Akin to Ahmed Khan?s Fool n Final, Cash revolves around the heist of a set of diamonds and the fight between the good, the bad and the cops in possessing the diamonds. In stunts – in locales – in style, Cash resembles DUS. So what makes Cash different from its ilk? Well it?s the animation that adds to its flair.
The story goes like this.. Angad (Suniel Shetty) an underworld Don is after a set of diamonds that comes way back from history. Aditi (Dia Mirza) his girlfriend takes help from her good friend Doc (Ajay Devgan) to execute Angad?s plan. Doc an ace con artist employes Lucky (Ritesh Deshmukh), Danny / DJ (Zayed Khan) and Pooja (Esha Deol) in accomplishing this task. Shania (Shamita Shetty) is the head of the security in guarding the diamonds. She is unaware of the fact that her boyfriend Karan is Doc from whom she has to guard the diamonds. How these groups impede with each other and get hold of the diamonds forms the rest of the story.
Director Anubhav Sinha has the talent and the skill required to carry off a Action thriller, but the storyline gave it away. The ideas of Vinay and Yash are interesting, no doubt, but the translation is not gripping and riveting. Anubhav tries to make it up with stylish execution – hair-raising stunts – eye-filling visuals which are worth a watch, but let?s not forget that a captivating story is what a moviegoer wants at the end of the day. Everything else is secondary. The first half is with its sluggish pace drags along and almost half of it is spent in introducing the characters. The film catches pace as it nears the climax. The use of animation could have been avoided at few instances. Music by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani is excellent. Cinematography is top notch.
Ajay Devgan looks life less throughout the movie. He sure does look stylish but his acting looks kinda unnatural and forced. Zayed Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh look cool and excel in the acting department with spirited performance. Suniel Shetty?s performance is good but his role in the movie could have been better. Shamita Shetty couldn?t beat her sister Shilpa Shetty in stunts (from her movie DUS) but she sure looks fabulous. Esha Deol wears a blank look. She needs to work on her style as well as acting. Dia Mirza looks ravishing.
On the whole, Cash has style – action – stunts in abundance but unfortunately no substance to keep you hooked. At the box office, the film will open like Dus and crash in a similar fashion once the initial curiousity and hype subsides.
Rating:
[…] Cash – Opened to a good 70-80% at most places. It was hampered in parts of Eastern India due to the floods. The film has mixed reports but the good opening coupled with the big release should see the film through. – Indicine.com Cash Movie Review […]
Cash sucks Cash out of your pocket!!!!
There is no storyline! This is a complete waste of time. Screen shots are just put together without a flow. It jumps to animation when the action scene comes up. Biggest FLOP of the year so far. Don’t watch this movie.
