Answer: We have written about this in several articles in the last few days. The trend of films like Bang Bang, Happy New Year, Singham Returns, Kick, Jai Ho and even a Besharam – have a clear cut message to filmmakers. Content is king. A superstar can get the audience to theatres on the first or second day, but after that it comes down to the content. If you have a film as solid and entertaining as 3 Idiots, it can plunder records. Films that are fairly well-received like Kick, will do well enough to collect Rs 233 cr, even though the same actors previous release failed to excite the audience.
Besharam collected 20 cr on Day 1 and dropped to less than 6 crore on Day 2. Singham Returns took a record opening of 32 crore, but finished with lifetime business of 140 cr. Bang Bang with better content would have crossed 200 crore.
In short, if PK turns out to be as good as any of Rajkumar Hirani’s last three films, then the records that it sets could stand the test of time like 3 Idiots. Having said that, the response to the trailer has been mixed and PK will be carrying very high expectations. The audience is not just expecting an entertaining film, but a classic.

the status of saman- srk and even amir to some extent is too big now. its just their starpower that movies as bad as jai ho and ra.one emerge as hits.
i think the movie will have to be extremely extremely bad to be a flop if it stars srk-salman.

i have always had my own reservations over the stardom of amir khan.
defenitely his movies have been the biggest grossers but his fan following is not that great when compared to salman-srk.
he has a major chunk of fans which he share with salman khan as evident on this website.
but again they are more loyal to salman khan and follow amir due to his freindship with their bhaijan.
he has some fan following in metro cities but they are not as loyal as srk salman fans are.
his movies work due to positive content.
his choice of scripts is extremely good when compared to srk-salman.
a good content oriented movies are now expected from him.
amir khan ki movie he achhi hi hogi. this is what people think.
so its a huge benefit.
srk salman too must strive for some good content oriented movies otherwise there is no use of wasting the huge stardom on silly movies.

Not content people is the king, when people watched movies like dabaang, dabaang2, ETT, ready, bodyguard, dhoom3, krish3, kick, om shanti om, leaving movies like baadsha, dil chahta hay, swades, koyla then it can be easily said that not contant- people is the king.
I expect good cinema from baby not big numbers because it looks like an ofbeat action thriller. but do you think brothers have a chance of crossing 150 cr? if it gets good promotions and screen count.
PK has very good chances to cross 300 crores bcoz movies of Aamir and Raju trends very nicely even after 1st week.

I do believe that PK may be first 300 cr if it content works as this is is the only film in recent time who has carry huge burdon of expectation which may goes against p.k.
But most importantly I want this film should be have solid content and memorable film as All major records are in Aamir’s Nan’s so even PK won’t able to do we have no issue.
