Answer: Aamir Khan came very close – Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini, 3 Idiots and Dhoom 3 were all blockbusters or better, but he also had one not-so-successful film in between (Talaash). It just goes to show that attaining blockbuster status is incredibly difficult and doing so 5 times in a row speaks volumes of Salman Khan’s super-stardom.

Also, the bigger problem is, when one or two films of an actor goes on to be a blockbuster, the cost-of-production, marketing and the actor’s fee also sky-rockets, which makes it increasingly difficult just to recover costs.
Having said that, the future is always unpredictable, which is what makes it exciting. Will there ever be another Salman Khan? Probably not, because the craze that he commands in the smaller towns and villages in India is unmatched. He is not loved in those parts, he is worshipped.

Dhoom-3 – Sequel to BB established Franchise – NO credit to Aamir. Even SRK or Salman as Dhoom-3 villian would’ve collected 275 crores.
Talaash – Original – only HIT Tag. Aamir failed to cross 100 crores when film lacks Masala. SRK did that 3x with Masala lacking genre movies like Ra.One, Don-2 & JTHJ all crossed 100 crores.
