Agneepath released on 26th and the hype is extraordinary. The response to the advance booking, which opened at several centers on Sunday, has been fantastic too – at places better than Bodyguard!
So, can Agneepath beat the opening day record (21 crores) of Bodyguard? Our Analysis below
Why Agneepath ‘could’ break the opening record of Bodyguard
- Agneepath is the first big release since Don 2, which released more than a month back. Abhishek Bachchan’s Players did release, but not many watched the film.
- It’s Hrithik Roshan’s first release after the super-success of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. And we all know, even his bad films open well!
- The music is a big hit and Katrina’s Chikni Chameli has only added to the hype.
- Bodyguard released after 12PM on it’s opening day (Wednesday), whereas Agneepath will have a full-fledged release this Thursday.
- Like mentioned above, the advance booking is great – which is a clear sign that the opening will be bumper.
Reasons why it may not..
- Hrithik’s has a strong hold over the multiplex audience, but it will be difficult to match Bodyguard’s collections at Single screens.
- Agneepath will have fewer shows at multiplexes due to it’s longer runtime.
- It’s releasing on fewer screens than both Don 2 and Bodyguard.

Hrithik isn’t salman or shahrukh when it comes to crazy fan following. Amir khan is the only who can give a close call 2 these khans in this section. Like Amir solid script selection n near perfect acting has been his forte so far. Agneepath is definitely looking promising hence bumper opening is guaranteed given added hype created by song chikni Chameli n formidabble star cast specially Sanjay dutt’s menacing look. Though advance booking n per release buzz is great breaking 1st day record of bodyguard n single day record of ra. One seems out of reach. One reason being longer run time that means lesser show in plexes, 2nd smaller release compared 2 bodyguard n ra.one, third hrithik dismal fan following among single screen viewers.
Robin, his fan-following isn’t exactly dismal. A film like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara won’t do well at single-screens even if it had Salman Khan. It depends on the kind of film, Dhoom 2 and Krrish did very well. Also, apart from Hrithik, Agneepath has Chikni Chameli to bring in the masses. It should do well all over.

Frankly no way…why??….becoz…i will show u the facts ….
1.Less prints then Ra.one and bodyguard …longer runtime…non holiday(26th is republic day but most offices remains open)….no ticket price hike,,,no 3D.
2.Players and don 2 still running…cause less occupancy…and more over multiplex will still have few shows for these movies.
3.Single screen will be good but not 90% and ra.one and BG both open 90% plus on single screens too becoz of Salman and SRK power.
4.All over India occupancy need to be 90-95% first day which is almost impossible for a non Khan starrer…as so far it never happened or else Rockstar,TMK and even Dirty picture could have broken this record too.
5.Finally the Advance shown is for few multiplexes ..not all over india …Single screen has not even got any sign of Advance or any talk …its looking as a normal release for Single screen and good opening for Multiplexes so it cant go even close 20 Cr…forget abut 22 Cr.of Ra.one or 21 Cr BG…to the most it will touch 18 Cr First day.

Personally i didn’t want to say this..but after knowing the advance status of Agneepath im may come close to Bodyguard or may be more than salman khan starrer.
Undoubtedly It will be a superhit. Ek sath jyada screen me release karke jyada kama lene se koi superhit nahi ho jata hai. Ra- one ki haalat sabne dekh li. Now talk about 3 idiots it has only 13cr at first day this doesn’t mean that aamir koi chhota star hai. Marketing me Srk aur sallu ka koi mukabla nahi hai. But iska matlab ye nahi hai ki film bhi achchhi ho. So dont go to watch for any record but if it is a gud movie then what is the problem. …………… This movie have all stuffs which can lead to superhit……………
