Few expected 3 Idiots to beat the record set by Aamir Khan’s very own Ghajini, but now, with mind boggling business (an understatement to be frank) all over India at both multiplexes and single screens, the Ghajini record looks beatable.
The weekend collections are around 40 crores nett (62 crores+ gross) including paid previews and the movie would need to further add 25 crores over the next 4 days (Monday – Thursday) to beat the 65 crore nett first week collections of Ghajini.
With many schools, colleges and offices closed during this extended Christmas – New Year weekend, the collections are expected to remain very steady in the next 3 – 4 days.
Nothing, not even the hike in ticket prices has affected the opening of 3 Idiots, infact it has only contributed in increasing the weekend collections.
Overall, 3 Idiots is the biggest weekend money spinner ever and Aamir Khan is the biggest star in the country. Period.
