With the fantastic start that Aashiqui 2 has taken at the domestic box-office, we compare the Aditya Roy – Shraddha Kapoor starrer with some of the other biggies that have released this year.
The opening of Aashiqui 2 was better than Chashme Baddoor, which did well at multiplexes and had a solo-release. Aashiqui 2 clashed against Iron Man 3, which affected the film’s multiplex business. But the footfalls (tickets sold / number of people who watched) on it’s opening day was higher than much-bigger films Ek Thi Daayan, Chashme Baddoor and Special 26.
Overall, for a film made on a reasonably low budget, with no face value and released on 1100 screens, Aashiqui 2 has exceeded expectations on Day 1.
With films like Jism 2 and now a clean love story like Aashiqui 2, the Bhatts have proven yet again that they are no longer reliant on Emraan Hashmi as far as the opening of their films is concerned.

Excellent opening day for Aashiqui. But will it last beyond the weekend? I have been hearing good things about the movie. So will catch it on Tuesday.

@g, mental is not releasing this year, krrish 3 and dhoom 3 are branded movies with huge stars, everybody are waiting for it from many years , no other film can cross their opening .

This year some films may join 200cr club but amir bhai create 200cr club. Hritic is a flop star gave just one super hit after 2006 and his no film cross 200cr till date. Ce opening will be 25cr and may cross 200cr and ouatim2 opening 18cr may cross 150cr. K3 will not cross 100cr as mental releasing 22 nov. K3 opening day col max 18cr just wait and watch.

If D3 has a great script, it will shatter all records, except the opening day, as that will stay with Salman for ETT for atleast one more year.
But, overall D3 (on condition, it will have great script) have chances of breaking the 250 crore barrier.
If script is weaker it will make around 150+
Second, would undoubtedly be Mental with around 150+ . It will depend only on Salman, nothing else matters, and if the script is superb, expect a 200 Cr. But to be realistic, i would keep it around 140 to 160 Cr.
I can’t tell who will be third, because CE and OUATIMA are clashing, so also K3 is likely to clash with Besharam (Ranbir + Abhinav Kashyap of Dabangg fame can spring a surprise).
Krish3 will be the biggest hit of the year2013.
Mark my word it will shattered all the records.
It will easily cross 200 plus crores only in india.
