Bombay Velvet set to be the biggest disaster of all time

Bombay Velvet is set to be the biggest disaster of all time, as the film could finish with lifetime business of around Rs 25 crore.

On Saturday morning, the occupancy was lower than Friday. A few exhibitors have reportedly increased the shows of ‘Piku’ and ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, and decreased the shows of ‘Bombay Velvet’.

The film has collected Rs 5.2 crore on Day 1, which is lower than the first day business of 2015 films like Gabbar Is Back, Fast and Furious 7, Avengers: The Age of Ultron, Roy, Baby, Badlapur, Tevar, Piku and even Ek Paheli Leela.

Even films like Detective Byomkesh Bakshi and Shamitabh, which released on fewer screens, had better overall occupancy on Day 1.

Bombay Velvet will struggle to recover even its marketing costs through theatrical business and the distributors share of the film could be around 12-13 crore! In fact, it remains to be seen if Bombay Velvet can collect as much as the first day business of Besharam (Rs 21.5 crore).

  • Can’t believe the collections are so poor.Budget 120 crores and lifetime collections 20 crores.Never heard of anything like that.
I had once read that Victory was one of the biggest disaster since it too had a huge budget but the collections weren’t even worth mentioning

  • I don’t believe it
    sunny Leone beat rk….
ek paheli leela (5.30 cr) >>>>> Bv (5.20 cr)
    sunny Leone>>>>rk

  • The negative effects of taking away Salman’s girlfriend from him.

Ranbir’s career on a downward slide.
By the way where is Vivek Oberoi these days. Ranbir will soon be meeting him in near future.

  • no words for this disaster..i mean biggest disaster in history of bollywood..something that no producer want this tag..feeling sad for producers..

I have doubt is he really youngistan fan
Bcoz he watched akki 2 movies on first day but he didn’t watch rk 2 movies (Roy, bv) yet…

  • Im slightly happy its a disaster because of those snob anurag kashyap fans and pseudo-intellectuals who were claiming this to be a masterpiece and looking down on all other films or people who didn’t like the trailer.

  • no words for this disaster..i mean biggest disaster in history of bollywood..something that no producer want it even in his dream..feeling sad for producers..

    I really feel for them.
they should also understand that you can’t bet 120cr on ranbir.
due to very strong line up of films, I still feel that he will test some huge success.

  • @indicine what really went wrong with Bombay Velvet ? Ranbir is quite a big star and has decent fan following so accordingly collection shud have been better .. But seems like even Ranbir fans are shying away from movie ..
I have never seen such a thing ever before.. So many big names associated,Such a Budget ,2 years in making and such Disastrous Response.. I am still Unable to fathom that what went wrong with Bombay Velvet.
    @indicine please answer

  • Oh no ! BV will never be the biggest disaster .
Biggest disasters will be MARIGOLD and MAIN AUR MRS KHANNA !
    #PowerOfBhai

  • My God !!!
Losses should be around 100 crore !
That is absolutely crazy and unbelievable . Never heard anything like that before .

  • People r tired of such media created stars and there fake superficial films…..!!….

They always do media manipulation… Affair rumours..,, fake link-up hype….

During every movie he spread affair rumour.. Which bores audience…

We should boycott fake bad cinema like dil dhadakne do to teach lesson to another cheap irritating actor Ranvver singh…..

Actually these actors r useless n do not deserve place in btown due to cheapness….

    1) ranbir kapoor
    2) ranvver singh
    3) arjun kapor
    4) sid malhotra..
    5) katrina kaif..
    6) sonam kapoor…

These 6 are just media created puppets………

  • Raone was biggest disaster of all time before BV. Budget 161 Cr. , B.O. Collection 114 Cr.

  • yesterday our nipun says that why this star fans judge films by the collection…
    This is what the reason…
@nipun who bash with @indicine just bcoz indicine gives rating 2/5 and our nipun say other critics gives better reviews for bv
But when @indicine talk about kites disaster he change his colour and defending hrithik…. And look what he says kites got better review than bv…
my problem is then why u bash with indicine
    @indicine is always right…
and personally request to nipun and arjun kapoor fan go n watch bv n tell us ur review Don’t skip it…

  • that,s power of taking panga with bhaijaan he will soon become jobless unless he finds another girlfreind lol.

    • @Sahir, yes there are. Happy Ending was a disaster. Ajay’s Tezz also lost most of its investment. Then there are a few Salman films in those 4-5 years before Wanted. Taj Mahal. Drona. Guzaarish also under-performed big time. Akshay’s Tasveer 8×10. The problem with Bombay Velvet is that the costs were way too high.
