The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has roped in Bollywood superstar Salman Khan for yet another social cause, as the actor has agreed to be the face of its anti-open defecation mission.
The anti-open defecation campaign is a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
Apparently, it was Salman’s complaint that a few men were relieving themselves in front of his Bandra residence, that led the BMC to send a request to Salman.
The Being Human Foundation accepted the BMC’s invitation through a letter than was posted on Mumbai Mirror.
“We are in receipt of your letter addressed to Mr Salman Khan requesting him to become a brand ambassador of the BMC to assist the BMC in their cleanliness drives. We are pleased to inform you that Mr Salman Khan will be happy to accept your invitation and through Being Human – the Salman Khan Foundation will help the BMC in creating awareness about cleanliness drives”
Salman will donate five mobile toilets to the BMC, which will be placed near his residence in the Bandstand area. He will also lend his face to videos and posters that will be used to spread awareness about cleanliness.
The city needs around 1.36 lakh toilet seats to accommodate 63% of the Mumbai population that lives in slums. The BMC has achieved half its target and is 60,000 toilet seats short.
Good initiative by BMC . Social causes needs the support of celebrities as they are educated and can convince large number of people to make a change . Celebrities can also do their own contribution towards society through money . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was horrifying to learn that a guy who live in metropolitan cities like Banglore & Delhi since 6-7 years still doing open defecation whenever he went to his native place. I asked him, why are you doing that even govt provide you free sanitation. I was more upset & angry when he told me that to open defecation his mind feel peace as he sit openly without any wall & can feel the fresh air.
The main problem is not only the infrastructure but the peoples mind have to change as well. 4/5 of our open defecation comes from UP-BIHAR-MP.

Good initiative. Salman complained and BMC trapped him with ambassador role plus they are getting mobile toilets sponsored by bhai’s BH. Aisa dilwala toh ek apnaa bhai hi hai.
according to Income Tax Department. Salman Khan, HR & Akshay Kumar gives more taxes than SRK, it creates two things. 1st, if they give more than SRK then SRK is either a Tax chor or he is a fake media created 2nd richest actor.
A better initiative would be for police to instead arrest those disgusting individuals like CHULLU n imprison them…!
Those scum that were relieving themselves outside bhais residence like CHULLU n javeeeeda should instead be made to clean up after their mess with nothing more than a small toothbrush…! Only then will their mindset change…!
