Bhoothnath Returns has shown fantastic growth in business over the weekend. Even though the film took a slow start on Friday, it has more than doubled its first day business on Sunday.
The hilarious first half, Amitabh Bachchan’s presence, brilliant performance by the child artist and Lok Sabha election centric second half, have all ensured that the family audience have come out in numbers – especially at multiplexes – to watch the Nitesh Tiwari film.
While business on Saturday was up by around 55%, a few centres on Sunday have managed to double the business. The story is not the same all over the country though, as a couple of cities in the Mysore circuit only picked up by around 10-15%. Evening and night shows in Mangalore had poor occupancy of around 30%.
A circuit like East Punjab opened poorly due to competition from a regional release, but has put up much better collections over the weekend. Other major circuits like Mumbai and Delhi/UP had significantly higher occupancy on Saturday and Sunday.
The first Bhoothnath film (2008) had collected Rs 14.1 crore in its first weekend and 24.68 crore in its entire run. The weekend figures have been bettered and the sequel is likely to collect much more than the first film.
Like always, the weekdays will decide the film’s fate at the box office and Monday will be extremely crucial. If Bhoothnath Returns holds well today, the industry could have its second successful franchise targeted at children after the ‘Krrish’ series.

Hahaha this is called cameo of srk magic … Look at films salman did a cameo ppnh hahaha it only collected 30 crs on its entire run that too coz of shahid forget about aamir doing cameo the decade blockbuster star can not give himself a hit what will he give the others

Bhootnath Returns is a much better childrens movie with good values than Krrish 3 which lowers childrens IQ. Watching K3 can reduce childrens cognitive abilities as well as gives them habit of manipulation.
Box office collection is not a big thing for me. This movie is better than Chennai Express & Krrish3.

Wow! Really happy to know it has picked up really well. Release time is the only demerit for this film, as it is exam time in schools. Hope it holds up well in weekdays.

With MAIN TERA HERO eyeing a major chunk of the pie last week, one expected the keenly-anticipated Amitabh Bachchan starrer BHOOTHNATH RETURNS to open well in the domestic market. Notwithstanding the solo release status, aggressive pre-release promotion and a brand value attached to its title, the start has been sluggish almost everywhere.
Shahrukh rendered his support and graced the screen for Nitesh Tiwari Bhootnath2, SRK’s presence failed to give Amitabh Bachchan and debutante Parth Bhalerao’s movie the much needed boost.

Krrish series is a blockbuster franchise and is the only successful superhero/sci fi franchise of bollywood collecting more than 370-400 cummulative total from the 3 movies of that franchise.
