Introducing Bhool Bhulaiya
First of all let me make it clear, Bhool Bhulaiyaa is NOT an out-n-out comedy movie as its trailers suggest. It’s a thriller narrated in a very entertaining way.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa is the remake of a 14 year old Malayalam movie, Manichitrathazhu. The movie was also remade in Kannada and Tamil. It a script that has always worked! So is Bhool Bhulaiyaa in the same league?
Bhool Bhulaiyaa Story
Badrinarayan Chaturvedi (Manoj Josi) is the head of the Brahmin family living in a small town were the people are very conventional and superstitious. His elder brother’s son Siddharth (Shiney Ahuja) and his wife Avni (Vidya Balan) return to their ancestral village after living in US for many years. Siddharth insists in staying in his ancestral palace which for long has been uninhabited as it’s considered to be haunted. Despite opposition the newly wed couple shifts to their ancestral mansion. Avni an adventurous girl breaks the ground rules to explore the room considered to be the devil’s home. What follows is a series of life threatening incidents. Siddharth instinctively invites his vibrant Doctor friend Aditya (Akshay Kumar) to solve the mystery behind the mansion and the mysterious events.
Who is behind all the baffling activities? Is it really ghastly or just a human trick? Watch Bhool Bhulaiyaa to uncover the mystery, for the movie ventures into one of the most confusing yet interesting study of human psychology.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa Movie Review
Priyadarshan has handled the complicated script extremely well. A few changes have been made to the original, to make it funnier and more convincing. The first half is a light comic thriller and completely revolves around the supporting characters. The lead character (Akshay Kumar) enters 45 mins into the movie and takes it to a completely different level. The second half is more of a psychological thriller.
Bhool Bhulaiya has just the right ingredients of a successful movie – adequate amount of comedy, suspense and thrill to keep you at the edge of your seats throughout. Music is never really great in Priyadarshan movies but Bhool Bhulaiyaa is an exception. Two songs titled ‘Allah Hafiz’ and ‘Hare Krishna Hare Ram’ standout. The background score is outstanding.
The performances are top-notch. The second half belongs to Vidya Balan. She has done complete justice to a role that demanded great onscreen histrionics. Watch out as she sets the screen ablaze with a mind blowing performance in the last 20 mins. Undoubtedly her best performance to date! Akshay Kumar is surprisingly good in emotional scenes and as always brilliant with his comic timing.
Shiney Ahuja is good. Amisha Patel should stop acting, the sooner the better. Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani are great in providing comic relief.

Overall, Bhool Bhulaiyaa is a great movie. History should repeat itself for a script that has always created history in every single language that it was made in. You would have never watched something like this before in a Bollywood movie. At the box-office, the advance booking is huge. With positive word of mouth, Bhool Bhulaiyaa could well be the 3rd blockbuster of the year!

Wowww awesome movie… we group of 15 ppl really enjoyed this movie.In fact we never saw this kind of movie earlier in history of bollywood… Previously if its akshay kumar movie then I used to forget acting.Now a days we go to watch it for Akshay kumar acting. Top notch performance from this man….others are good as well….Seems Akshay kumar will soon overtake SRK…

guys I just watched thi movie…and it is in fact brilliant movie. good script..everything is there in movie… I am surprised how akshay has handled emotional scenes so easily… he is like old wine…getss better time by time…Vidya is better…for akshay and vidya its worth watching…

well not a good movie compared to priyadarshan standards.i just came after watching the movie.this time he cudnt use akshay well.script is loose .and i dont know so much time was there to put the hare rama song in the movie and director kept it for the end when people started leaving the hall.too much hype was there that prompted me to watch the movie.i wish cud hv seen laga chunari mein daag.very bad priyadarshan.next time i will be watchfull before i pay for ur movie.

i have been reading about this moview since afternoon to get the first comments.except for rediff , no body has given a bad word for this movie and i know it is good. that song is mind blowing ” teri ankhen bhooool bhulaiya , teri baten bhool bhuliaya” great akshay great . garam masala bhee achi thee. keep ti going . you are the NO 1. The movie was a good one.. i have watched both the malayalam(the original) and tamil versions of it. the malayalam one was gr8 with mohanlal and shobhana(especially) putting up a mindblowing perfomance. The tamil one was really, wel. what do i say.. bad.. the whole script was spoiled. but bhool bhulaiya was far, far better than chandramukhi(tamil).. vidya balan has done a gr8 job.. and akshay too.. good work and worth watching even if u have watched the original one. you wont be disappointed like u must have been after watching chandramukhi. I dont have anythng against the tamil movie but it spoiled the the beautiful movie that was manichitratazhu(malayalam). gr8 work priyadarshan, for adapting the story so well without spoiling its essence.. and i must mention this again.. gr8 work akshay and vidya balan.. u wer gr8.

oh my dear ‘M.K.Sajjin’………Manichitrathazhu was directed by Fazil……..not by Priyadarsan….how come u dont know this being a Malayali……..shame on u…….Priyadarsan only likes to make films in bollywood and that too remakes of malayalam hit films :)

AMAZING FILM ! Sheerly for the novelty of the subject.
It’s high time a versatile directr like Priyadarshan should have taken genre other than comedy. He is master of craft.

All u should watch the all time classic Malayalam movie…………MANICHITHRA THAZHU and compare with these iodotic Chandramughi & Apthamithra………………………
What a beautiful movie is Manichithrathazhu……………Both kannada & Tamil versions of the movie are idiotic and stupid films…. Director like P. Vasu don’t know the theme of the movie…. But I have faith in Priyadarshan…
After all he is a Malayali…who can better understands the theme & Akshaya Kumar is a far better actor than Rajani as well as Vishnuvardhan….. But don’t comapre with Mohanlal…………he is a all time great actor…..& don’t compare Shobhana with Saundarya ,Jyothika & Vidyabalan….Because Shobana did an extremely good performance in the original version…………..and she is a two time national award winner….Where is Saundaraya & Jyothika in the national award list? they didn’t even get any single national award….
The theme of MALAYALAM film can only understand by malayalees…because it is closely related to our culture and our superstitions….One of the poem written by the script writer MADHU MUTTOM in the original version is outstanding…. So don’t compare with our culture & our folk stories with other language……….

Moviiew is a good movie.In sort Pandit “Batuk Nath” urf Apna ” Lal Hanuman” was superb.I wished that Priyadarshan should have given more role to this perticular character.Amisha looks beautiful “Aunty Types” and so do Vidya Balan.Apna Akki is rockin and sShiny is also cool.Moviiew revilves with good humorous script and is quite thrilling.On a overall basis I would like to give a rating of “Three” or *** 2 the moview.

The script is amazing…..So is the direction and acting..
Akki is the only one who cud do justice to that role…
Vidya balan delivers her best performance….
All in all I will give it a 10/10….
Well box office cant be predicted. If a WASTE movie like Partner can become a blockbuster, Bhool bhulaiya can surely overtake Sholay….
