Best Saif Ali Khan Songs: Top 10

Saif Ali Khan hails from arguably the most historical and reputed family background in India. His father, the Late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was the former captain of the Indian cricket team and Nawab of Bhopal till 1971. His mother, Sharmila Tagore, is a former actress and has her roots from the family of legendary Sir Rabindranath Tagore.

Saif struggled in the initial phase of his Bollywood career as almost all of his hits were multi-starrers. ‘Hum Tum’ in 2004 was the turning point and since then there has been no looking back for the Chote Nawab. While we wish him the very best for tomorrow’s release ‘Go Goa Gone’, here are the best songs of Saif Ali Khan which are made even more special with his charming presence.

1) Ole Ole: This has become an identity song of Saif Ali Khan over the years. YRF’s ‘Yeh Dillagi’ featuring Akshay, Saif and Kajol is the first major hit of Saif’s career. He performed some amazing dance steps choreographed by legendary Saroj Khan in this song sung superbly by Abhijeet.

2) Hum Tum: The title track of YRF’s ‘Hum Tum’ is an extremely romantic melody composed by Jatin-Lalit. Beautifully picturized on Saif and Rani, the song creates a mood of romance with the soft-soothing vocals of Babul Supriyo and Alka Yagnik.

3) Ajj din chadheya: The intensity of love is beautifully expressed in this wonderful track from ‘Love Aaj Kal’, arguably the most successful musical hit of Saif’s career till now. Khan portrayed the Sikh character with Turban perfectly in this movie. Composed by Pritam, song has appreciable lyrics from Irshad Kamil and it is effortlessly crooned by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

4) My Dil Goes Mmmm: This sweet romantic track from ‘Salaam Namaste’ had Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta romancing on the beautiful streets of Australia. In this agile melody composed by Vishal-Shekhar, vocals by Shaan and Gayitri are ever so youthful and energetic. Lyrics by Jaideep Sahni are filled with sweet fights of fresh lovers.

5) Dil Ko Tumse: ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein’ is one of the most popular music albums of its time. Although Saif is not the main lead in the movie, this song picturized on him is one of the best love songs ever. Roop Kumar Rathod infused an ever-lasting life to this Harris Jayraj composition with his amazing vocals. This nostalgic melody makes you hum the song whenever you listen to it.

6) Jugni: Pritam re-arranged and re-composed MTV Coke Studio track ‘Jugni Ji’ in a much polished way. Pakistani singer Arif Lohar’s deep throated voice and Harshdeep Kaur’s infectiously catchy vocals make this track ever so irresistible. Saif played the love interest of both Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty in this movie ‘Cocktail’.

7) Kuch To Hua Hai: After Australia, Lets enjoy Saif and Preity again in New York now from ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’. Shaan and Alka Yagnik have lent magnificent voices to the addictive tune composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and marvelous lyrics of Javed Akhtar.

8) Wo Ladki Hai Kahaan: Saif along with Sonali, superbly performed the immensely funny yet unique dance steps choreographed by Farah Khan as a tribute to Bollywood. This chartbuster song from Dil Chahta Hai is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and written by Javed Akhtar. Vocals by Shaan and Kavitha are mesmerizing.

9) Hey Shona: Shaan has rendered voice to some of Saif’s best romantic songs. This nostalgia of romance freshens up with this mushy composition of Vishal-Shekhar from ‘Ta Ra Rum Pum’. The brilliant picturization on Saif and Rani is an icing on the cake as it mellows effectively with Shaan’s and Sunidhi’s impressive vocals.

10) Khwab De Ke: Everyone on the dance floor now! Pritam’s composition from ‘Race’ is an amazing blend of beats, hip-hop, Arabian and old hindi movie style music. Saif and Katrina rocked the song with their superb stage presence and energetic performance. Neeraj Sridhar and Monali Thakur are just top-notch. The song got added in the album after the release of the soundtrack.

Other great songs of Saif are Chuda Ke Daaman(Imtihaan), Shukran Alla(Qurbaan), Piyu Bole (Parineeta), Dil Haara (Tashan), Maare Hiwda (Hum Saath Saath Hain), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (Title Track), Pungi(Agent Vinod), Neela Dupatta (Hamesha) and Aashiq Aawara (Title song).

  • No songs from Cocktail? It was Saif’s best album ever. Songs like Yaariyan, Tum Hi Ho bandhu, Daru desi were much much better than Jugni.

Is this list of worst Saif Ali Khan songs or best?

  • Superb selection of songs … Near perfect list .. Almost all musical movies of Saif are covered … Thanks for this.

  • Oh.. don’t agree with you Indicine..these are NOT his best songs.. just few are good from yr list.. there’re much better songs from Saif Ali Khan’s films which deserve attention like: Main Deewan hoo for Pankaj Udhas ( from the movie Yeh Dellagi).. a very nice song, and also a song from Tara Rumpum ( Saaiyaan).. and Shukran Allah from Qurban, and from Love Aaj Kal Twist and Ahu Ahu.. and Zara Zara ( from one old movie) which I loved, and Pungi from Agent Vinod ( why didn’t u mention Pungi? I think it’s a hit song.. right?)

In yr list, the 2 songs from hum tum are nice, and from Salama Namaste, Dil Chata Hai and Kal Hona Ho.. means just 5 are good out of 10

  • Indicine always prefers the songs of western and modern types. There is either no room or very less room for melody in this list and also in previously published list of other artists, except melody king kumar sanu ‘s article.

  • what yaar how can you miss ‘koi kahe kehta rahe kitna bhi humko deewana’ frm dil chahta hai. the song was hit and dance of saif and amir was fab.i think it must come in top five.
