We haven’t seen all movies that Sanjay Dutt has acted in, so here is a list of the Best Movies of Sanjay Dutt (Top 10) in the last couple of decades or so.

Sanjay, who made his debut in Rocky, is one of the more under-rated actors in Bollywood today. But what did justice to his otherwise average career, was two of his biggest blockbuster this decade which were critically acclaimed and box office monsters. The Munnabhai series is what Sanjay Dutt will be remembered for and ironically most of his career best performances have been as a Don.

10) Mission Kashmir – Has to be one of Sanjay Dutt’s most under-rated performances ever, the actor was clearly outshined by the presence of a superstar (Hrithik) in this Vidhu Vinod Chopra film. As Inayat Khan, Sanjay quite deservingly won the Best Actor critics.

9) Rocky – His debut film directed and produced by his father Sunil Dutt, was released just weeks after his mother Nargis passed away. The movie did reasonably good business at the box office too.

8) Shootout At Lokhanwala – Although Dutt shared the acting honours with Vivek Oberoi in this gangster film, it was his larger than life star presence that made the movie one of the best films of the year.

7) Haseena Maan Jayegi – One of the best comedies of the 90s after Andaaz Apna Apna, Sanjay Dutt shared screen space with comedy king Govinda in this hilarious comic caper. Their chemistry was fantastic and Dutt as Sonu was brilliant.

6) Sadak – A beautiful romantic tale starring Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt, this Mahesh Bhatt film has great songs, a gripping story and acclaimed performances.

5) Saajan – One of Bollywood’s best romantic films ever, Saajan is arguably Sanjay Dutt’s most sensitive performance. The songs are extremely melodious and the story is beautifully narrated. An evergreen classic!

4) Khalnayak – Nayak nahi Khalnayak hai tu! Wow, this movie is a must watch for every Bollywood fan. As a villian, this is Sanjay Dutt’s movie all the way. The controversial songs, brilliant direction and performances made this a box office hit.

3) Lage Raho Munnabhai – Did he mind rock or what! Just when you thought bettering their previous effort would be next to impossible, Rajkumar Hirani and Dutt, shock us in one of this decades best movies. Watch it to believe it!

2) Munnabhai MBBS – Close call between Lage Raho and MBBS, but this being their first effort deserved to be ranked higher. Uniquely presentated, beautifully narrated with out of the world characters, Munnnabhai MBBS will be watched for years to come!

1) Vaastav – While we are reminded time and again of Shahrukh Khan’s performance in DDLJ, Aamir’s in Raja Hindustani or Salman’s in Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, Sanjay Dutt’s award winning performance is easily forgotten. A performance that only he and no other could have carried off. Sanjay Dutt rocks and Vaastav will remain his most heart-touching performance ever. This being a negative role makes it even more special!
