Even though Bang Bang was competing against a critically acclaimed film like Haider, the Siddarth Anand film has managed to beat the lifetime business of Salman Khan’s Jai Ho and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Holday: A Solider Is Never Off Duty’ in less than 6 days after its release in theatres.
The fact that the film had a couple of holidays in its first weekend did help.
Bang Bang also took less than 5 days to go past 2 States and Ek Villain, the 6th and 7th highest grossers of the year so far.
The Hrithik Roshan action film should go on to be the 2nd highest grosser of the year after Kick. By the end of the year, Bang Bang could be at No 4, as the highest grosser for a film released outside the festive weekend – i.e assuming Happy New Year and P.K perform upto expectations and Action Jackson doesn’t exceed!

@Aeeyy, it absolutely does make sense to include Telugu and Tamil. When a film releases in Tamil / Telugu, it affects the business of Hindi version in circuits like Andhra/Nizam and Tamilnadu/Kerala.
There is a reason why films do not release in Punjabi, Bengali or Marathi, but only in Tamil and Telugu. That’s because people in these south states prefer watching films in their language over Hindi. If they have an option.
Also, there is cost involved to dub and release films in these regional language. So when these costs are including in the overall budget, it doesn’t make sense not to include collections of regional releases.
Trade sites do not include those figures, because they give verdict based on recovery of Hindi distributors and also because they can’t track Tamil/Telugu collections. The production house can!
So before you ‘rubbish’ an article, understand the business and trade!

Its collections r poor as compared and the director of Bang bang should stop whining about it.
2 states is the most overrated movie of the year. Last year’s overrated movies were YJHD and Ashiqui 2. Some youngistaan movies are so overrated.

It will end up with Lifetime collections of 180-190 cr…which is super hit. Wish it could touch 200 crs. Had Haider not released at same time, it would have reached 230crs at least.
Even with the poorest WOM, Hrithik’s star power is taking this film ahead of many liked films this year. And Bang Bang should be the 4th highest grosser of the year behind Kick, HNY and PK (assuming PK and HNY cross its collections)

Hahaha!! Some people are comforting themselves saying that Bang Bang has crossed the businesses of Jai Ho and Holiday when it seems an impossible job for it to cross the business of Kick!
While Salman does average two movies a year, Akki does many. Yet, Jai Ho was the worst performing movie of Salman in recent years, Holiday was also not up to the mark to the expected businesses. And some kids are 140 Budgeted Movie Bang Bang with the movies that didn’t enjoy any holiday and have a top heroine!!

@aeey: there are two kinds of collection. Viz Domestic and overseas collection.
In case of jai ho and holiday, Domestic collection=Hindi collection
while in case of BangBang, Domestic collection isn’t equal to hindi collection.
It would be unfair to remove the regional collections from total domestic collection. If a movie releases in regional language, then the local audience will prefer watching the movies in regional language. So,hindi collection gets affected there.
Haider’s collections are that well indicine..if it was really well why didn’t it show upward trend as collections like bang bang r getting low day by day.critically acclaimed doesn’t mean great collections (eg guzarish, talash) etc..u hav to admit bb has failed big time…??

So, isn’t it that Trade Analysts are unable to track further 700 Screens as in the case of the BO collections in Tamil and Telugu??

So Its Haider which has affected Bang Bang just in contrast to what everyone expected. Everything from Music to trailer to Action and Dialogue promos looked quite impressive but movie itself turns out not good enough to fulfil the expectations of people!!! But in case of HNY the promo does not really stand out as was the case with OSO but movie shall be an absolute entertainer.
Zeeshan… you are creating a controversy out of nothing, because you want to undermine the success of Bang Bang.
Lets say worst case the collections of Tamil and telugu is 7 cr. Which brings the combined total acc to BOI to 108.
Now lets compare
