Bajirao Mastani has shown phenomenal growth in business on Sunday, what with collections of the film set to come in the 18 crore range. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film picked up by around 20% on Saturday and then again by 20-25% on Sunday, giving the film a very good weekend of around 47 crore in India.
The historical is carrying excellent word-of-mouth and looking at the weekend trends, there are chances that the film could collect 10 crore plus on Monday. Usually, when there is 20% or more growth on Day 2 and Day 3, it’s also a sign that the film has been liked by the audience and will hold during weekdays.
The other release, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale wasn’t so lucky. As far as protests and cancellation of shows were concerned, it was a peaceful day. But there were a few stray incidents, like in Mangalore (Karnataka) where some shows of the film were cancelled on Sunday and advance booking has been put on hold for the weekdays due to protests.
The average growth for Dilwale at most centres that we tracked was around the 15% mark, some were a little lower, others were higher. The impact of shows getting cancelled or resuming after protests is currently not very clear. As per estimates, the film should collect around 23 crore on Sunday, taking the weekend total to around the 64 crore mark.
For the industry, it has been a big day at the box office. The combined collections of both Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale is set to be around the 42 crore mark.
Monday and the remaining weekdays will be important for both films, as the better performing film will get more shows at multiplexes in Week 2. There is the much-hyped Hollywood film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ which releases in theatres on Christmas day, it will occupy a few screens too. The fact that big ticket Hollywood films are performing well in India (especially at Metro cities), has encouraged exhibitors to allocate plenty of shows in recent times.
The battle for screens and shows will continue in Week 2, so steady / good collections during the weekdays will be crucial for both Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale.
Haha so.. the gap is reducing with every passing day… Monday very important now… It will be interesting to see if bajirao will be a bigger grosser than dilwale…. If dilwale vs bajirao mastani can be this interesting…. Imagine what will happen during SULTAN vs raees… !!
That’s extremely sad, disappointed to see people forcing public from watching Dilwale.. and forcing them to come out from theaters, this is not just a shameful act but more than that it is a crime.. Don’t watch if you have a problem from SRK or his film but why doing such shameful and criminal acts? Sad to see this all..
and please don’t talk about expectation in terms of business when this all is happening to the film.. this is one of the worst things that has happened to Bollywood Industry (can happen with anyone especially Khans) instead of becoming united against such craps, lunatics, the Industry is silent which is even more worst than this all…. but don’t worry it can happen with anyone, then everyone will realize…

Just Came Back After Watching Bajirao from Theatre after My bro Recommended me to watch it and i am Clean Bowled.. its my 1st ever movie of Deepika,Priyanka and Ranveer in Theatre .. I am so so so Glad i watched it in Theatre because it Deserves a Theatre Viewing..
Deepika and Priyanka were Fantastic but it was Ranveer who Surprised me the Most (Never really liked Him).. he lived the Role of Bajirao…His Mannerism,his Dialect,his dialogue delievery Everything was Spot on as a Warrior but What Impresses me the Most were His Eyes.. Still Haunting me.. His Eyes Oozed out his Feelings… They Potrayed his anger,His Helplessness ,the Injustice he was Facing,His inner Turmoil.. i am Sold.. litreally Sold Ranveer.. U won My heart.. only other movie that made me feel this way was bajrangi Bhaijaan… I will Definitely watch it once again next week along with star wars..
SLB Also Blowed me away with his Direction.. the movie Reflects Perection.. all i wanna Say is Forget ur Hate and Stupid Fanwars and give this movie a Go,u will not at all be DIssapointed..

BM has exceeded everybody’s expectations
Protests /cancellation of shows would have dented the collections by few lakhs I feel.The cities where these protests took place are not major contributor to the business.
Even if the film is banned in a theatre,people do have an option of watching it in other theatre of the city unless it is banned in the entire city which is not the case with more than 2-3 cities.
Films like Fanaa and Jodha Akbar were banned in Gujarat and Rajasthan,UP,Uttarakhand,Haryana resp. and yet managed to be successful at the boxoffice.
The real danger that Dilwale is facing is coz of Bajirao’s excellent Wom in metro cities.It is giving stiff competition to it and even in the north,it has started to do really well in multiplexes of cities in UP.
Problem is not that this protest dent 2 or 3 cror problem is becose of this act people are feeling threat to go for watch Dilwale and right said iamAKN bro its sad to see the behavior of industry and other khan followers it can b happen with other khan follower near future so we should condem that
