Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale makers go all out to market their films!

The makers of Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale are going all out to market their films. The PR machinery is in overdrive mode, especially the PR team of Bajirao Mastani, who are more active than ever!

The aim is to outdo the other, to give their own film the edge and convince the audience that it’s their film that deserves to be watched first on 18th December.

So far, the makers of Bajirao Mastani have organised as many as 9 events and all these events have been ‘before’ the launch of the theatrical trailer. Check out the list:

  • Bajirao Mastani Teaser launch in Mid-July.
  • An event to launch the first look poster.
  • An event to launch a poster featuring Ranveer Singh.
  • An event to launch a poster featuring Deepika Padukone.
  • Maha Aarthi event to launch the ‘Gajananna’ song during Ganesha Chathurti
  • An event to launch ‘Deewani Mastani’ song
  • An event to launch the animated series ‘Blazing Bajirao’
  • An event to launch the ‘Pinga’ song
  • Finally, the event that is taking place right now to launch the theatrical trailer.

The list is pretty much endless and we might have missed a couple of events that took place in between.

At most of these events, the media, who is advised to ask only those questions that are related to the film, end up asking about Ranveer’s relationship with Deepika and her chemistry with Ranbir. Deepika seems to be repeating everything that she says at the ‘Tamasha’ events, at these endless ‘Bajirao Mastani’ events.

The promotional campaign of ‘Dilwale’ has just begun and they too are going all out with extravagant events organised in the city of Mumbai. The first was to launch the theatrical trailer of the film and the second was the ‘Gerua’ launch event at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai. Fortunately though, they are yet to overdo it.

With about a month to go for the release of the two films, it’s just the beginning of the ‘in-your-face’ promotional campaigns which would include more song launch events, front page advertisements, city tours, interviews, controversies and more.

But the big question is, are such over-the-top marketing strategies worth the time, effort and money that goes into them? Does the audience really care? Will ‘one launch event a week’ (sometimes two) make any difference whatsoever on the all important Day 1 at the box office?

It’s the content that matters at the end of the day and if ‘Bajirao Mastani’ falls below expectations, then it would struggle to even recover its marketing costs. If the content is good and the makers are confident, they would do well to save money on excessive marketing, as a good film always works. Against all odds. Dilwale or not.

  • SLB iz nt confident tht he will recover the costs so started promoting the film since july whereas Srk will start promtions just b4 one month of theatrical release.
    BM will hardly recover its costs.MARK MY WORDS!!!!!BM all songs hv nt been able to live upto expectations or rather they are flop.Dilwale first song gerua is chartbuster within 1 day.youtube more than 50K likes.Its other songs also seem to be chartbuster as seen in the trailer.
    In one word Dilwale will be blockbuster while BM semi-hit/flop.

  • Dilwale doesn’t need big promotion. The film has been carrying huge buzz since it was announced and it appeals to all sections of the audience. Plus songs are chartbusters. Dilwale promotional events are just for fun and a formality. MNIK SRK-Kajol’s last film took record non holiday opening with little promotion and little mass appeal so imagine what Dilwale will do.

  • Sad BM team are just wasting all their energetic and time frame resources!
    It’s simple and easy, let the content be good and then hop the collection is decent. At best scenario. BM is not collecting more than 45% of what Dilwale Wil gross! Between apart from Srk stardom status Rohit in current era is a latent tactician @box office. His proven that 100% attributes ever since beginning of this decade!! Between there’s that saying. “an empty vessel makes the loudest noise “.

  • Dilwale doesn’t need much promotion I reckon.When you have the iconic jodi of Srk-Kajol making a comeback with the youth icon in an important role and the movie being directed by Rohit you can’t ask for anything more.
    Even if BM turns out to be a classic it won’t be able to recover its costs since it would be severely affected by DIlwale storm in the first week.

  • Rohit Shetty has a great marketing sense. Still remember the way he had flooded television and newspapers during Bol Bachchan. With Srk it only gets bigger! Only great content can save Bajirao Mastani!

  • Bajirao mastani’s songs r looking like a low budget movie songs,not good while the teaser was very impressive . It’s 50-50 Chance for BM at boxoffice.

    Dilwale will do double the business of BM without a doubt . Hope the music of dilwale is not as boring as music of Tamasha, BM,prdp.
    Where r the high energy /fun songs? ? Is there only romantic/slow pace songs in dilwale too ?? I hope not

    we all know if he wants he can force bhansali to move his movie to some other date

    he knows when to show bravery , and when to force the makers to move their movie

    ouatimd was one of the biggest movie of that year
    it had a huge starcast of akshay , imran and sonakshi
    outima is highly regarded , so he forced the makers to move and make way for c.e
    (though outimd was a disappointment)

    even ajay was in huge dilemma during s.o.s v/s jthj clash
    he had huge starcast and a song and cameo appearance of salman (and at that time he was at his best) , mind u jthj was not srk’s home production , dilwale is
    srk knows what he is doing

    bajirao kitni bhji achi ho , dilwale ko 230 cr karne se nahin rok payegi
    and if it is lyk ramleela then dilwale might collect 250 cr
    and if it is a washout then dilwale has every chance of coming as the hgoty
