S.S. Rajamouli’s Bahubali 2: The Conclusion has taken a historic opening at the box office. The occupancy is record-breaking across the board – north, east and west have all taken the best opening of the year – surpassing the opening of all Hindi films so far this year and competing with festive releases like Sultan, Dangal and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
In the south, ‘Baahubali 2’ is recording close to 100% occupancy. The opening record of top Kannada film, ‘Hebulli’, featuring Karnataka’s top superstar, has been eclipsed by a distance in the morning. The all-time highest Kannada grosser, Kirik Party, will be surpassed in a matter of days as both regional and Hindi version have taken a earth-shattering opening.
In fact, several ‘preview’ shows of Bahubali 2: The Conclusion were held late last night in the South and almost all shows were filled to capacity.
Business in Tamilnadu was affected in the morning, as shows were cancelled at the last minute due to some financial settlement issue between the distributor and producers of the film. The issue is said to have been sorted out and shows are now running 12PM onwards. The advance is spectacular here and with the morning shows getting cancelled, the noon/evening/night shows will be packed to capacity.
Inspite of the fact that today is a working day, the people of Baahubali’s home state Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are celebrating it like a festival. Several offices are closed, with reports coming in that corporates have bulk-booked tickets for Friday. As expected, the occupancy has exceeded the capacity. Extra chairs are being added at single-screens, tickets in black are getting a huge premium.
In short, the country has probably never ever seen the kind of craze a film like ‘Bahubali 2’ has managed to generate. It isn’t quite like the hero worship of a Rajnikanth in Tamilnadu.. that level of insanity isn’t there, but the film itself is the superstar here.
When it comes to recovery, Bahubali 2 has been sold for record prices all across. The pre-release theatrical recovery (not including the various rights like satellite, music, digital etc), is 275-280 crore from Hindi and other regional versions. What that also means is, the film has to collect more than the lifetime business of the first film – just to attain ‘HIT’ status. The Hindi version will be a ‘HIT’ once the film crosses the 150-160 crore mark – which is around 30% more than the Hindi collections of the first film.
@ rej happy new year was beaten by prdp. earlier indicine used to give manipulated official figures but now they have changed them. they have updated the lifetime collections of hny to 180 crore so the opening day should also changed though they are yet to update it’s first day figures.
Baahubali 2 movie will collect 1300 crores gross
Telugu version – 500 crores gross
Hindi version – 600 crores gross
Tamil version – 150 crores gross
Malayalam – 50 crores gross .
@Raju Basu no I disagree with you. Salman is not the biggest of all. He is way behind aamir khan. Aamir is biggest of all and no doubt salman is 2nd biggest star after aamir.

I wonder Reactions from Akki Ajay fans on Prabhas Co actor Rana tagging Prabhas the biggest action hero in the country. Too bad Akshay Ajay at Prabhas age I doubt if you could do dare devil stunts like Megastar Prabhas. Not mocking just a Fact!
This shows Robot 2 opening all India will have nothing to do with side actor Akshay. If a Prabas movie all India can collect 106cr what about another mega franchise of Mega super Star Rajnikant? For those crying out loud that wait for Akki 2.0 I wonder whether they left their brains at home or just want unnecessary Attention. Its like saying Bahubaali worked because of Rana or Kattappa. I want to ask a question? When our actors break records do you see us comparing them with Chiranjeevi Nagarjuna Mohanlal and many others. I think its very disrespectful to start saying Prabhas is bigger than Khans or saying Akshay Ajay Hritjik highest is low. Prabhas can’t do the number of movies Akshay does he can’t give consecutive numbers Aamir Salman gives box office he can’t do versatile roles like Ajay does he can’t draw crowds without a franchise like how Shah Rukh does. Nobody is doubting Prabhss dedication and hard work but I think its highley insane comparing him with our present superstars. In short even Suriya and Mahesh Babu dont fill in the gaps of the above mentioned actors. Prabhas is a kid front of them. You look at the years and consistency they maintained for over 25 years and today they are still bigger than our new generation stars their pay cheque is bigger they are wish list for any director some are even producing and acting same time with high budget movies. What we are seeing with these our heroes of 90s is exactly how Rajni Chiranjeev Mohanlal Nagarjuna are also doing for past 35-30 years. When did Prabhas start doing films? Or Mahesh Suriiya Vikram? So if you are to compare them you compare them with your south side Biggest Supersrars not kids like Prabhas. You are all talking about Bahubaali 2 and festival stars which makes no sense because it has to take a mega budget franchise with one of the most creative directors for you people to mock our superstars. What of all the movies you grew up watching some 30 years ago. You people dont patronize Bollywood movie because you are self centered but here the north and rest of India we patronize what we feel is good be it any other industry movie that’s why you see the insane collections.
