Badrinath Ki Dulhania First Weekend Collections

Dharma Productions’ Badrinath Ki Dulhania has done very well at the box office in its first weekend. The collections on Sunday evening was affected by the beginning of Holi, but the film still managed to show growth of around 10%.

The Varun-Alia starrer has recorded the third highest first weekend collections of 2017 – only below films like Raees and Jolly LLB 2.

The opening and the first weekend business has firmly established Varun Dhawan as the top star among actors who debuted after 2010. Whether it is commercial entertainers or a revenge drama, his films have always opened above trade expectations. His last three films (ABCD 2, Dishoom, BKD) have all taken double-digit opening, which is excellent for a star who hasn’t even completed 5 years in the industry.

The presence of Alia Bhatt has helped the film too, as the collections in circuits like Mysore, West Bengal was better than Varun’s last film Dishoom. Her presence has also helped the film perform well overseas.

Overall, it’s a solid first weekend for Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The film should, at the very least, double its weekend business. Although we expect it to cross the 100 crore mark before the end of its 2nd week.
