Badlapur Box Office Opening

BadlapurVarun Dhawan’s Badlapur has taken a good start at the box office on Friday. In fact, the opening at major cities in India was better than a big release like Akshay Kumar’s Baby, even though Badlapur was an ‘adults only’ dark revenge drama.

Badlapur has managed to take the second best opening at multiplexes this year after Roy and the film could cross the 6-7 crore mark if evening / night shows pick up.

Initial reports from the morning shows are good and the film has received critical acclaim too.

Approx morning show occupancy of films released in 2015. Do note that massy films like Tevar usually take a better opening in the morning, while films like Baby and Badlapur take slower starts and pick up as the day progresses.

  • Roy – 40%
  • Badlapur – 30%
  • Tevar – 30%
  • Baby – 25%
  • Shamitabh – 15%

  • @indicine hny is a big flop in china it has collected only $200.145 in 8days.while dhoom 3 had done bussiness. of $1.5m in just 3days .

  • Varun dhawan is better actor than his contemporaries though last his movies collection were lower than others like sidharth (ek villain due to music),arjun( 2 states due to chetan bhagat factor) and ranveer(gunday don’t know why?) But later we have seen what happened with kill dil and tevar. So I think he will race ahead this year with abcd2 and srk film!

  • It has got low opening …….!! ..
But its screen count is 2500 …..!!
    Tell me 1 film which released on 2500 screens n it is hit at 45cr… ?? … Not a single one…..!! ..
Screen cost add in it….!! ..
It will need 70cr to bcum a hit..along wid promotion cost which is high ……!! ..
    Another flop ….

  • Here i am back wid review of latest film .. Honest review of badlapor ……

Film start wid bank robbery n accident which is very unconvincing…. Film had maintain brillian pace in 1st half …which is superb ……..

Nawazuddin sidiqi shines n excel all other actor in film .. However varun dhawan ‘s dialog delivery n voice comes for a toss ….. His xpression look manipulative …
Nawaz overshadow all actors n he is the main lead n hero of film ..!

2nd half starts to drag n sowly film loose pace..! It drags n drags n drags … N becomes boring …..!!
It test ur patience that much boring..

Climax is let down .. It may not go down well with many .. It spoil purpose of film that is revenge..

It try to end smart.. But it is complete downer…..

Hence i give this film a generous

    2/5 stars …

Spend ur valuable money only if u like nawaz antics..

    Else avoid it..!

  • See ek villian also got 2500 screens and compete with salman khan’s jai ho , varun is over acting only . dange is ok .

  • Hope u all love reading my review.. I m honest critic here…

U all must be waiting for my reviews anxiously…

    All my previous film review..

    Tevar 1/5
    alone 1.5/5
    roy 1/5
    baby 3/5
    shamitab 2/5

and now read my above Badlapur review to Find out my rating 2/5 ..!

    Enjoy ur day ..

  • Apart from baby which did well to collect 95 cr no other movies have done well this year and i m sure that badlapur will be 1st hit of 2015.varun rockss.

  • Watched Badlapur..good but not great,agree with indicine’s review..
    But i will give it 3.25 …
Climax is very disappointing, don’t know what some critics have seen as they were terming it unpredictable,wonderful..
Performances r top class, actually the film is all about varun-nawaz’s performance..both r fab.
People who like revenge films agneepath, ghajini might feel a tad disappointed..
And most of the people after walking out of theatre were disappointed.

Badlapur will be hit at the best not more than that

  • Sriram raghavan’s last film agent vinod collected 9.50cr on day 1 in 2012.
Badlapur will collect 7cr in 2015.
So obviously Saif Ali khan is a much bigger star than varun.

  • hahaha wat a embarassment for akki.first rk in a supporting role and zero promotions gave better opening than him and now kid varun with A certificate has also over taken him.ppl r calling badlapur a total paisa vasool film with a unique thought provoking ending

    #superhit hai boss

  • Just checked comments on badlapur page..some chameleons have cried there..but the fact remains intact..
These chameleons include ek villain between films like paan singh tomar n Bhaag milkha bhaag…they call it a great gem..
    Atlast i would say-

BABY is still the best of the year so far and i know most will agree with me after they watch badlapur..

  • just read some comments of ‘2 faced’ people who hv given 3.25/5 to the film yet r calling it a big disappointment.

now these r the same ppl who had initially given 4 stars to bang bang,3.5 to gunday and 3 to jai ho but later changed all of them to 2.5/5!!!

it is really difficult to trust them.pata nahi kab apni hi baat par palti mar de

  • films which are not family oriented do not do well.. it also shows that censor was severe with the film.. so count will be less since the buzz is not there they will try their best to promote on tv and other media that it has hit the bulls eye.. they are wrong…
the content is not entertaining from what i hear hence the downfall is necessary

also those people who think they have developed the wings need them to be clipped so that they once fall on the ground

from now on overacting and mindless violence will not work with indicine readers..

  • Just watched ROY on DVD as my friend bought it and forced me to watch it. My short review:
Performance: Jaqckeline shines in 1 role, is bad in other, very hard to tell which one is which. Ranbir Kapoor gives subtle performance and looks very handsome but not his best performance but better than Besharam. Arjun Rampal gives one of his best performance and am seeing him after long time so enjoyed watching him after disasterous Ra1.
Story: It’s there….somewhere…You just have to look closely and find it..Joke.Actually, if they just removed the whole movie thief part, it would have been an iconic romantic movie as it was really well written but not translated well onto the big screen. I agree with those who say it should have been a book instead of movie.
Directing and editing: Non-existent!!! the movie moves too quickly from one scene to another and it seems to get on your nerves after a while. This guy should stick to writing as the story had some sort of interest factor
Music: Best thing going for it. All songs were good but my friend;s dvd version did not have Tu Hai Kay Nahi so I was dissappointed and the song Boond Boond seemed forced but was okay.

    Overall:2.5/5

  • it is not massy or classy film.it is all about star power.
akki’s star power at least should cross 10 cr mark but that is not the case.
    bitter but only fact.

    Do Miss The Ending

    There’s a very old saying-
‘All’s well that ends well’ and this saying is even more important for thrillers. But unfortunately sriram raghvans psychological thriller badlapur suffers from a disappointing climax.I know the climax must hv looked brilliant on paper but it gives u zero emotional punch while leaving the theatre and thats wat prevents this well made, nicely acted, entertaining thriller to become a superb film

Badlapur is the story of Raghu(varun),an young, happy, successful ad film maker who is leaving a dream life with his lovely wife(yami in a cameo) and his cute kid.But raghu’s beautiful life is shattered when during a robbery escape his wife and kid gets accidentally killed. The two robbers are nawaz and vinay.while nawaz asks vinay to escape with the money nawaz himself gets caught by the police. He tells the cops that vinay is the killer and he has hidden himself in an unknown place with all the money. The court unsatisfied with his answers punishes him with 20yrs of imprisonment.

On the other hand varun is simply unable to come in terms with the huge loss in his life and goes into depression quitting his Job.He tries to find some comfort by repeatedly sleeping with nawaz’s prostitute gf(huma) but still struggles to escape from his pains. He finally decids to wait for nawaz’s imprisonment tenure to end and then take revenge from nawaz and vinay.

Rest of the film is about how a soft hearted, energetic varun changes into a grey shaded, revenge hungry beast who can cross all moral and law barriers to avenge the loss of his lovely family. There are lot of twists to this engaging tale backed by many heart touching scenes, superb dialogues, strong performances, good music but a disappointing climax.

Hats off to sriram and his partner for writing such a good story, strong screenplay that keeps u entertained and engaged almost till the end.The performances everyone in supporting cast is superb but I personally loved the performances of huma and radhika who look really hot in the film.nawaz as usual is brilliant and his role seems like a continuation from his funny, psycho villain avatar in kick.Varun dhawan is a complete revelation in the film and gives an excellent performance.

Music by sachin jigar is top notch and so r the cinematography and production design

Despite heaping so much praise at the film I m forced to give the film not more than 7.5/10.Only if they could hv done away with that excessively philosophical climax and instead went with a simple one badlapur would hv been a gem of a film

    Rating-7.5/10
Verdict-Good but could have been better

2nd good film of this year after Baby

  • @megha nipun

Plz keep your strict hypocritical critics ratings to yourself- if users of Indicine are remotely interested in their worthless opinions then ppl would visit their particular columns, blogs, articles etc etc to see what the rajeev masands of this world have to say…

@indicine Why do you allow this juvenile to continually post the ratings of other critics on your site…? Do you think rajeev would like nipun to tell his followers of what ‘indicine has given a film’ or jogi bhai will stand for megha nipun coming to his blog n tell his followers that strict critics like Rajeev or Anupama gave the film these many stars… If you dont mind him promoting other critics on your website then fair enough coz I too may start broadcasting what fun critics have to say about films on your site.

  • @some buddha

If chameleonism n trolling werent bad enough you have now added plagiarism to your evergrowing list of crimes on indicine… Atleast mention the source were you stole that review from…
