Akshay Kumar’s Baby has collected Rs 50 crore in its first extended weekend at the box office. The film started slow on Friday, but showed decent growth in business on both Saturday and Sunday. Monday was a holiday for Republic Day and the film held steady, even though the night shows showed normal drops – as the following day (today) is a working day.
Baby still has a long way to go before it can recover costs and today will be crucial for the film. The good news is, the Neeraj Pandey film is steady at multiplexes today (Tuesday), what with some centres sustaining occupancy of around the same level as Friday. However, ticket prices are down to weekday prices today, which will affect the collections of the film as a huge percentage of business is coming from multiplexes.
If Baby manages to collect somewhere around the 5 crore range, the film could eventually recover its costs as there is no major multiplex release this weekend.
Overall, the extended weekend collections of Baby should have ideally been in the 55-60 crore range, but given the poor start on Friday, it has done well to collect Rs 50 crore.

Hope it does around 6.5-7crs today.. Desperately wanting it to get into the 100crs club!!

Here comes my “Baby” short review:
Director Neeraj Pandey’s latest movie Baby is an engaging material, yet it could have been a smarter one!
The first half is decent and certainly lacks an intensity. Movie gets diverted to a few extents with a scene of around 5-6 minutes between Ajay and his wife. I feel they could have shortened that part! Also,the scene of a guy describing how they were taught to use weapons and so on didn’t click. I know the main purpose was to show the Good Muslims! But I think they should have shown it in another way! The second half was consistantly engaging and creates a tense situation whom you can genuinely feel, even though movie was predictable to some extent!
The performances were impressive! Akshay Kumar has delivered a stronge performance here and has been well-supported by Anupam Kher and Rana! Danny, Kay Kay Menon and the pakistani actor have played their parts well. Taapse Pannu impresses in her small part.
The dialogues were well-written. The action was realistic. Cinematography was good. Background score was suitable, but I feel they should have kept it simple in a few parts of “1st half”. The screenplay could have written in smarter manner, although it is still good. There were no unnecessary songs in the movie, which is a good step by the makers!
So over all, Baby is an engaging and brave movie which deserves your time thanks to the wonderful performances, consistantly intense 2nd half, realistic action and suitable BGM! Yet, it could have been a smarter one. The only reason why I still feel special 26 is a better film was the smartness in its screenplay! I am going with a three and one quarter stars for Baby. But as we don’t have such rating, so it is a strict three out of five rating for me! Watch it! Pandey again suceeds in creating genuine tense situations who make the film a good thriller!

So looking at the trends Baby is looking for 110cr lifetime collection. And baby will collect 6.5cr+ today.1st week will be 68-70cr range.
It’s a good news to see baby earning 50cr’s but would have been happy to see 60cr . The film is one of the best films and it surely deserves to cross much more than 100 cr . Go on akki you rock .

100 cr looks difficult now….national holiday could have benefited the movie but i dont know whats wrong with the ppl or movie…no other big releases but still movie is underperforming ..very dissapointing for Akki ans his fans.

Good collection for baby in extended weekend but i hope that in working days baby will earn every day as per average 5.5 / 6 crore till Thursday then the movie will chance to enter 100 crore club till the end of 2nd week.

nobody is liking the film is the sorry truth…
most of all i have not liked the film ..so the issue is settled ..whatever i dont like doesnt work..
and after i have highlighted the negatives most people are now accepting the follies of pandey
so no point rraising the collections as that is not happening

yes most of girls like foolish romantic movies cuz they get much importence of women in these films a big reason for success of srk. but i feel srk’s movies are anti family.
