Akshay Kumar’s Baby has taken a fairly good start of around 35-40% at the box office on Friday. The film has opened well at metro cities, but at smaller towns the occupancy for the morning shows was around the 20% mark. Mumbai city, National Capital region (New Delhi, Noida etc), Bangalore are off to a good start.
Baby was always expected to take a decent opening and then grow towards the end of the day, but the opening at several centres was better than what was expected out of the film in the morning. Even mass centres started fairly well.
The pre-release reports were excellent and the word-of-mouth is expected to be extra-ordinary too. Baby has a long extended weekend of 4 days, as Monday is a holiday for Republic Day. If the film can open at 10 crore plus, it has the potential to record a good 4-day weekend at the box office.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, Baby stars Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Rana Daggubati, Madhurima Tuli and Mikaal Zulfiqar. The film released in theatres today.
My estimate will be correct. Opening day 13cr to 16cr sure mark my word.
I don’t know about rest of india but in Kolkata baby had an abv avg opening performance in the morning but it has picked up and adv booking for 3pm show onwards is gd to v gd .tomorrow is sarwasati puja so tomorrow should b huge

I was also expecting this sort of opening. If evening and nigh show can get around 70-90% occupancy then 13-14.5cr day one on card & it’ll ensure around 55cr+ 4 day weekend as WOM is/will be super positive.
Everyone predicted 8-9cr opening day for Baby(including @indicine). All are going to be wrong, baby will definately collect 11cr+ 1st day as I predicted.
I think Baby should collect 60 Cr in these 4 days. If it does so then no one can stop it to become the highest grosser of Akki.

Now I understand why the movie wasn’t much promoted Such good movies doesn’t need much of a promotion since excessive promotion would just kill the hype the trailer had generated .Hope it becomes Akki’s biggest grosser and most loved film

Never in my wildest dreams did I think a Akshay Kumar film would get 4.5* ratings… some critics even gave 5 stars rating!! Many critics who bashed Akshay before are praising him now. This is all because of one MAN Neeraj pandey….. He is simply great….. I can’t believe even KRK is praising Akshay..

I will not agree with you..Initial starts also matter…Srk,salman,Amir,Hr give huge start and If content is good then they can easily reach 200cr+…they can collect 25-30cr minimum in starting weekend…But in case of Akki start is about 10-12 and sunday collection can reach 16-18 cr.So reaching 150cr is a tough job…

BABAJI’s BABY Review:: Thoroughly Engaging but won’t blow you off!!

Finally watched my most anticipated film of the year: BABY directed by Neeraj Pandey.And it was my most awaited film for a reason as the same director had given us two exceptional films in A Wednesday and Special 26.Both these films were engaging,thrilling and had a gripping narrative that will hook you through the entire duration.So does BABY succeeds in doing so? Let’s find out!
BABY starts off with a bang with few brilliantly choreographed action scenes and never loses pace throughout the first half or I should say the entire length.Baddies make a menacing introduction through some brilliant dialogues.Akshay’s scenes with Madhurima are well shot and adequately timed,will not make you impatient for the main story.First half has some kickass dialogues but the story wavers and is’nt clear as to what’s going with the intoduction of so many characters.However there are some scenes that standout such as Akshay interrogating Taufeeq,Maulana’s intro.
Second half begins briskly with Tapsee and Akki in nepal,Tapsee shines in her limted role.Definitely one of the best moments of the film.The pace is never down,the thrills are there in almost every single frame.Anupam Kher enters the film in the second half and provides much needed comic relief.Akshay delivers one of his best performances,right from the first scene his absolutely brilliant but what let me down is the climax,though most critics have liked it.It seem rushed and things went too easily their way.If you have watched Argo,you will be left a tad disappointed with the climax.It is weaker in comparison and has every chances to leave you upset.It will be predictable for you.SPOILER***:I could’nt understand why the Saudi Police officer let them fly off when he was shown inspecting so seriously!
Overall a must watch as these kind of films are not made everyday in bollywood,it will keep you engaged and hooked at the edge of your seat throughout but a better climax would have made it a great film.Sometimes keeping too high expectations results in you leaving a bit disappointed something that happened with indicine at the time of PK.Definitely it is’nt Neeraj’s best work.I will rate it less than A wednesday and Special 26.

Great support cast in Danny,Tapsee,Anupam and Rana.
Villains does geat job.
Action scenes are realistic,one of the best in a bollywood film.
Beautiful locales and great cinematography.
NEGATIVES:
Story is unidirectional and is’nt multilayered.
Climax is a letdown if you have seen Argo.
No major twists,it’s quite predictable.
