Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao recently delivered a baby through surrogacy. And now the couple have named their first son as Azad, after Aamir’s great grand uncle Maulana Azaa, who was a freedom fighter.
Aamir on his website said “Hey guys, most excited to share with y’all that we have finally chosen a name for our baby boy… Azad. Azad Rao Khan. I left the final choice to Kiran (Rao), and she has named him after my great grand uncle Maulana Azad, the great freedom fighter, whom the family is most proud of. Azad means free or liberated. We want to thank everyone for their warm wishes and blessings, and needless to say we are absolutely overjoyed and feel most blessed. Much love. Aamir”
Last week on Monday, both Aamir and Kiran sent a personalized letter to editors of all leading newspapers and websites along with a box of chocolates. In the letter he announced that the couple are proud parents to a baby boy. The baby, they said, was born on December 1st 2011, at a private clinic in Bandra (Mumbai).
So there you go. Azad Rao Khan is Aamir’s son’s name. The couple have handled the whole situation with a lot of dignity and grace. And Aamir’s gesture of sending a letter with chocolate boxes was sweet.
We wish the family happiness and good health.
