Q. What were the total worldwide collections of #Brothers movie – Ayush

A. Brothers collected Rs 83.5 crore in India and Rs 26.1 crore in the overseas markets. The worldwide gross of the film is 139.8 crore. Flop.

Q. What’s your take on the first look of Mr.Perfectionist’s DANGAL? Did you like it? Is Dangal going to be another Rang De Basanti/Taare Zameen Par of Bollywood in terms of content? – Jazick

A. The response has been phenomenal. Any film that Aamir Khan does, creates tremendous curiosity amongst the audience. The effort that he’s been putting into Dangal seems to be 10x more than some of his previous films. That’s the perception that’s been creating in the media. Unlike Dhoom 3 and PK, Aamir has been much more open to the media for his upcoming film. Frequent media interaction, press releases, pictures from the sets of the film and a lot more. The build up will be huge, so Christmas will be huge next year. The only question is if Dangal will carry entertainment value for the audience. At smaller centres, people watch movies only for entertainment. Hard-hitting, emotional films don’t perform as well as commercial films do. For example, Talaash.

Q. Few days back, before YRF made the announcement about Aditya chopra’s next directorial venture, there were all sorts of conjectures regarding what could be the special announcement. The most common sentiment was a film with all three khans. Is it possible in today’s time to have a movie involving all three superstars? If yes, What would be the budget of the film? Wouldn’t the film be too long as all superstars need substantial screentime? In that case, is it viable? – Nibedan Baral

A. Two of the three Khans are currently at the very peak of their career. SRK has always been one of the most bankable solo stars in the industry for over two decades now. So as long as all three are at the top of their game, it’s difficult for anyone to bring them all together in a film. All three have different styles of working – SRK likes to work with his friends, people he’s comfortable around. Salman likes to work at his own pace and the expectation that his audience has from him is larger-than-life characters. Aamir takes a long time to sign a film, he needs to be 200% convinced about the script, his role, director and even his co-stars. It could happen sometime in the future, but at this point in time.. highly unlikely!

Q. What do you think about Shaandaar movie? Day 1 and lifetime collection? – Anshi Goel

A. The pre-release buzz is huge. Shandaar is one of the most awaited movies of the month. Shahid Kapoor is returning to the silver screen, a year after Haider. Alia Bhatt is one of the most popular female stars in the industry and huge with the youth. The film is directed by Vikas Bahl who last directed ‘Queen’. The music and song promos are doing pretty well too. The film is set to take a very good opening. We are expecting Day 1 collections in the range of 14-15 crore. Lifetime would depend on content. 100 crore is definitely a possibility.

Q. What is your prospective regarding Baahubali 2 Box Office expectation? As it has very good chance of being first 1000 crore indian film – Anirudh

A. Baahubali 2 will be unimaginably huge. The first film was not only loved by majority of people who watched it, but it ended with Katappa killing Baahubali and everyone is curious to know why. In Telugu, ‘The Beginning’ more than doubled the previous highest grosser of all time. In Hindi, the dubbed version collected 100 crore more than the second highest dubbed South film. The second part will be promoted heavily and is expected to have the widest release in the history of Indian Cinema. Records will be shattering. Even big Hindi films can’t afford a clash with Baahubali: The Conclusion.

Q. What do you think after PRDP trailer? Will the youth make it to the theatres to watch it?

A. The PRDP trailer has been received well. Whether the youth is going to watch it or not, is difficult to answer at this point in time. Salman fans would obviously come out in big numbers to watch the film, family audience will line up outside theatres too. As for the youth, they might wait for the reviews / word of mouth (what their friends say about the film) before deciding whether or not to watch the film. Having said that, they might simply decide to watch PRDP movie with their parents instead of friends!

Q. What are the final box office collections of Katti Batti ? Has it recovered its costs ? & if not , then what are future prospects of Imraan Khan as an actor since his role was recieved positively? Aayaz

A. Katti Batti has ended its run with net box office collections of Rs 24 crore. The budget was Rs 33 crore (including P&A), the recovery i.e worldwide share is around 15 crore. Flop. Imran Khan’s career looked promising not too long ago, but he has now delivered quite a few failures. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the acting talent to make a strong comeback. Acting talent, screen presence and charisma is what gives actors a long and successful career in Bollywood. While Ranbir continues to sign big films even after back to back disasters, not many filmmakers are willing to sign Imran, producers are unwilling to invest in his solo films.

Q. Will Singh is Bling be affected by Jazbaa in its second week?

A. Not really. Both are different films. The big question is if Singh Is Bling will pass the Monday test and how the film sustains during the weekdays. If the film performs well during the weekdays, it’ll be Jazbaa that will be affected and not the other way round. For all the hype around Jazbaa, it won’t open to huge numbers. It’s likely to take a opening of less than 5 crore. Follow IndicineFBO for more.

Q. Was Akshay Kumar the Number 1 superstar during Singh is King days? – Mike

A. Not quite the biggest star, because Akshay has never delivered the highest grosser of the year or all time – which was a possibility if he did fewer films back then. Hrithik was the top star in 2006 – Dhoom 2 and Krrish 3 were both blockbusters. SRK had a huge 2007 – Chak De India and Om Shanti Om were blockbusters. Aamir took over 2008 onwards and Salman joined him from 2010. In Akshay’s best years – 2005 Garam Masala was 3rd highest grosser, 2006 Phir Hera Pheri was 6th highest grosser, 2007 Welcome was 2nd highest, 2008 Singh Is King was 3rd highest.

Q. Who is bigger star Ranbir Kapoor,Ranveer Singh or Varun Dhawan? - Rydham Garg

A. Tough to pick. All three are bankable. At this point in time, we’d pick Varun Dhawan. He’s going from strength-to-strength with every new film.

Q. What are the chances of FAN. Will it be a huge grosser? Considering its a non holiday release. Can SRK take it to the 200 crore mark? – Muscat

A. Even though films are crossing the 300 crore mark, 200 crore is still a huge total. If a film carries good word-of-mouth, it’s definitely possible. But without a favourable release period, uncertainty around the genre and music, it’s too early to talk about lifetime collections. With SRK, a good opening is guaranteed, the rest, like always, depends on content and genre.

Q. Srk once confirmed that he will be part of A for Apple B for Billi C for cutta directed by Anil Senior – Sanu

A. That was nearly 3 years ago. That film has been shelved. He’s not doing it.

Q. What are the Verdicts and Final Collections of Drishyam, Bangistan, Brothers, All Is Well, Manjhi, Phantom, Welcome Back, Hero and Katti Batti ? – Saksham

A. Drishyam – Above Average. Bangistan – Disaster. Brothers – Flop. All Is Well – Disaster. Manjhi – Below average. Phantom – Flop. Welcome Back – Average. Hero – Flop. Katti Batti – Flop.

Q. Tamasha looks like a multiplex movie. Do you think it can bring Ranbir Kapoor’s days back? What are your trade expectations from it, looking at how the movie is buzzing? How much does it need to be declared hit/superhit?

A. Tamasha Trailer has received a mixed response. It will take a good opening because of Ranbir – Deepika jodi and Imtiaz Ali’s direction. All three are big names in the industry and carry tremendous goodwill among the audience. The buzz isn’t as great as it should have been, but things should improve after the songs are out. It’s an expensive film. Economics will be posted nearer to release.

Q. Will period drama movie like Mohenjo Daro work at single screens? - Neeraj Karayat

A. Certainly. Jodha Akbar did well both at single screens and multiplexes. The more recent Baahubali was a massive hit all over. There definitely is a market for such films as long as the content is liked and the scale is big. The added advantage for Mohenjo Daro is the presence of Hrithik Roshan and the fact that it’ll be his first film in 2 years.
