Asin – SRK in 2 States?

Sajid Nadiadwala had bought the rights for Chetan Bhagat’s 2 States and the producer had signed Siddharth Anand to direct the film in October 2010. Later when Siddharth opted out, Vishal Bharadwaj was signed on and so was Shahrukh Khan.

The search for the female lead first started with Priyanka Chopra, then Deepika, even Vidya Balan was considered. But news is that Asin Thottumkal is all set to share screen space with SRK. A source close to both Sajid and Asin says “Asin is already a part of the sequel to Housefull and hence she often featured in the discussions about the casting for 2 States. Sajid and Asin share a comfortable relationship and the actress was excited to be a part of the film, which not only features SRK but will also be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.”

The source added that Asin is likely to sign the prestigious project soon “Asin is currently out of town but is expected to sign the papers as soon as she lands back in city.” What worked in Asin’s favour is the fact that she is from down south and the female character of 2 States is a South Indian.

If this news is indeed true, Asin will be the first amongst several leading ladies from the current generation to work with all the three big Khans – Salman, Aamir and Shahrukh. Lucky girl, ain’t she?
