  • @afrid khan ,naveed..All Sallu fans, leave these awards, they are biased as always,Aamir is ryte by ignoring them and now sallu should also do that.Just wait 4 ‘Veer’ n i loved the ‘Taal Maar’ Song.

@afrid khan..The other hina just commented once on this site.So its back to me hina, sallu fan 4m lahore,Pakistan

  • @afrid khan
INSHAALLAH VEER will be hit at the box office as the movie is really carrying the hype which has the potential to be hit and SALLU BHAI is really promoting movie in the right manner so bhai don’t take tension we all wish VEER to success at the box office

  • For the first time sallu bhai speaks for on the failure of LONDON DREAMS
Salman Khan is mighty upset that after Wanted his movies were not hit and now he has clearly come out in the open and is blasting Vipul Shah. “If I get bored in my own film then there is surely a problem,” he told us.

But then Salman feels that the film was good. “London Dreams was a wonderful film. But it was 25-30 minutes too long. I told Vipul to cut it. But he did not listen to me and cut it only after five days. I have seen the film and I know.

The film should have been 2 hours and 20 minutes and that would have made it very good. The last song is a beautiful song and he should have ended the film on the Hanuman Chalisa. By the time he cut the film it was too late,” he thunders.

  • @AFRID KHAN
this is especially for u bhai SALLU BHAI INTERVIEW FOR VEER ON HIS FANS AND VEER
Salman Khan gave one of the biggest hits of 2009 with Wanted. Now with the new year comes new releases. January 22 will see Salman in Veer, a movie written by the actor himself. It is loosely based on Russian author Nikolai Gogol’s novel, Taras Bulba.

Salman plays a warrior Veer of the Pindhari tribe, who rebels against the British rule.

He tells Syed Firdaus Ashraf what to expect from the film.

Veer looks like a dream project for you.

I will always praise my film till the time my fans criticise it. You never know what will work or what will not. Sometimes a film works and sometimes it doesn’t. There is no formula. It is not that I have written this film so it has to work. I will only know after January 22.

    What research did you do?

Lots. But this is not a regular period film. There is emotion, drama and comedy in Veer, something which is missing in many period films. Usually, period films are bereft of laughter and romance. But we have tried to be different here. The language has completely changed. We have done a number of things to make the film more contemporary.

Why did you choose a period drama?

I wanted to show how people in those days lived. How they honoured their commitments. When they are enemies with someone, it continued through the generations. The same with love. And when they give you their word, they will do anything to keep it, even if it meant that their children will have to fulfill them.

How close is the film to Taras Bulba?

The thought was there. Pindharis are like the Cossacks [Cossacks were among Russia’s greatest military assets]. The Britishers called them [Pindharis] barbarians though all they wanted was freedom. I have given an Indian flavour to the story.

3 Idiots has become a massive hit. Is there pressure on you for Veer to succeed?

There’s no pressure at all. If the film is good, it will work. If it is not, it will not.

Is it true that you fought with director Anil Sharma on the sets?

Yes, we fought a lot. We had a tough time. But these fights were not personal; they were more creative differences. He wanted his way while I wanted mine. Nevertheless, the end product is very good. The look of the film should impress the people. If it convinces the people then it will work from the first frame. We haven’t compromised on the budget.

Your earlier period film Suryavanshi did not work…

There were a lot of compromises while making that film.

Who is Veer in today’s time?

There are many Veers today. If you live in Mumbai, you are veer. You see whatever is happening. If you go to the Taj or the Oberoi then you are Veer [referring to the 26/11 attacks].

Wanted had hit dialogues like ‘Main ek baar commitment kar leta hoon toh phir khud ki bhi nahi sunta.’ Do you have such dialogues in Veer too?

Yes, there are lots. Sample this: ‘Jahan se pakdta hoon, paanch saair gosht nikal deta hoon.’

Do you feel your fans love you more in action films because Wanted worked?

Family films and comedies work too. I try to balance my work. I want to entertain my fans and audiences. I don’t want to make depressing films for them.

But your other films Main Aurr Mrs Khanna and London Dreams flopped…

London Dreams was a good film but it was too long. I told Vipul Shah [director] to cut it but he did not listen to me. Just because some friends say, ‘Saaru Che, Saaru Che’ (it’s fine, it’s fine), he went ahead. After five days, he did cut 25 minutes but it was too late. Had London Dreams been shorter, it would have been a great film. If I am getting bored with my own film, you can’t blame the audience if they get bored too.

Are you apprehensive of the box office fate of your films?

My die-hard fans will see my film on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After that, the film speaks for itself.

Why did you cast a newcomer like Zarine Khan in the film?

We needed a fresh look, therefore we decided on her. We needed someone with the yesteryear look.

She looks a lot like Katrina Kaif…

    Did you feel that?

I think that is because Katrina and Zarine have the same skin tone.

I never felt that (they look similar). If anybody has to see a resemblance, then it has to be me, na? But I don’t see the resemblance.

Moving on, it looks like you have become a fan of Mithun’s. After all you did cast him in Lucky…

I will tell you an interesting story. I call Mithun, Mithunda, but his children call him Mithun. They called him Mithun in front of me. That is the same relationship that we share in the film. Moreover, I have known him for a long time. He was my father’s friend.

You wrote Baaghi, came up with the idea for Chandramukhi and now Veer. Did you show your writer dad (Salim Khan) the script of Veer?

Yes. He said, ‘accha hai (it’s good).’

  • Even i was laughing at the fact that they have given Best actor award to SRK for RNBDJ and at the same time they gave it tO Hrithik Roshan For jodha akbar llast year

Anyways how can u think of giving award to SRK for RNBDJ when Aamir is ther for Ghazini . whether he takes his award or not is different matter all together.

Anyawys its really hilarious 2 movies releasing in same year and their actors winning best actor award for different years

  • You know what these awards have become a sort of a joke. I dont know why Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is even included in this years award, this is truly sick and sharuk is like a small kid crying for awards all the time. Most of the awards his been nominated or won in the past he doesnt even deserve. There are so many other deserving actors that have worked hard in good films but dont get the credit they deserve. This is very sad indeed. Salman is a great actor but i feel most people take him for granted. He should have been nominated for london dreams and wanted. Its true what he said about sharuk that he claims to be the best but is a very insecure person. All i can say is i dont belive in these awards now coz it sucks big time!

  • I just wonder that how long these people will continue to give awards to those whom even public has rejected. I would like to congrats SRK and Karan Johar in advance for winning most of the awards next year as well since no organiser will have guts to give awards to the deserving. Our awrds juries are the biggest jokars. Amir is right when he says he will not attend these functions.
    Daljit

  • With utter nonsence being appreciated and given awards left right and centre, we should win an Oscar in maybe a 100 years from now. how can the world take Bollywood seriously when they do not take them selves seriously. good work is never appreciated. if you have a particular surname or belong to a certain group you will definitely win an award. In this way the quality and grade of movies will always remian B class.

  • not satisfied this award. because its all fake award.best actoress is kareena kapoor for kurbaan and main aur mrs khanna not priyanka for kaminey. And srk is ok for this.

  • hey! u loosers dont u even say a single word about srk. he is the king of the world. sallu, amir, asin are fake . you all are fake…….. understood. u all r jealous ,dont have the guts to win even a single award. About amir not attending any award,he is a looser man kapde nahi honge! about sallu,he is afraid of srk!

  • Sunny: well..what I think is that Aspara were sorry that in 2008 they didn’t value Shahrukh’s performance in RBNDJ ( because he really deserved the best actor award for his role in the movie).. so they wanted to make some justice to him and honour him by end of 2009.. if the team of Aspara found Shahrukh the most deserving actor.. soy why not?! Amir doesn’t deserve the best actor award for Ghajini or 3 Idiots, Salman was good in Wanted but not to be considered as best actor in 2009, not even Akshay Kumar.. the most deserving actors are Shahrukh and Bigb for his role in Paa.. if Shahrukh won in Aspara so Bigb will win for sure in some other awards functions.

  • Ganesh: agree with you.. Atif Aslam is the only one who deserves the award this year, why didn’t they select him?!!!

  • these worst awards are not for superstars like sallu amir the award are for worst actors like shahrukh
wanted is best film salmaan is best actor

  • Noman:
No doubt God is the greatest of all. You are getting me wrong. There are few legends in bollywood history who ruled bollywood in their era. But srk is the most loved and most popular actor ever in the history of bollywood and u can’t deny this. So yar be cool. Everyone has his own opinion don’t take it serious.

  • Srk has so many achievements and still is counting. There is no comparison to those achievements. There has been many kings passed who ruled this bollywood. But srk is king of kings.
    Nooman :
If you have some knowledge of history and present of bollywood then u will agree with me. Because this is the reality.

  • Srk has so many achievements and still is counting. There is no comparison to those achievements. There has been many kings passed who ruled this bollywood. But srk is king of kings.
    Nooman

u better stop counting fake awards and count what srk does, compare to Aamir and salman srk is not a good actor he is just lucky hes popular if not his career would have been dead by now.

  • read this masa before speaking rubbish

Shahrukh Khan (Hindi: ??????? ????, Urdu: ??? ??? ???; born 2 November 1965), sometimes credited as Shah Rukh Khan, is an Indian actor and a prominent Bollywood figure, as well as a film producer and television host.

Khan began his career appearing in several television serials in the late 1980s. He made his film debut in Deewana (1992). Since then, he has been part of numerous commercially successful films and has earned critical acclaim for many of his performances. Khan has won thirteen Filmfare Awards for his work in Indian films, seven of which are in the Best Actor category.

Khan’s films such as Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Chak De India (2007), Om Shanti Om (2007) and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) remain some of Bollywood’s biggest hits, while films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Veer-Zaara (2004) and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) have been top-grossing Indian productions in the overseas markets, making him one of the most successful actors of India.[2] Since 2000, Khan branched out into film production and television presenting as well. He is the founder/owner of two production companies, Dreamz Unlimited and Red Chillies Entertainment. In 2008, Newsweek named him one of the 50 most powerful people in the world.[3]

  • Inspiration
Swades is inspired by the story of Aravinda Pillalamarri and[2] Ravi Kuchimanchi the NRI couple who returned to India and developed the pedal power generator to light remote, off-the-grid village schools.[3][4][5] Producer Ashutosh Gowariker spent considerable time with Aravinda and Ravi, both dedicated Association for India’s Development (AID) volunteers, Gowarikar supposedly visited Bilgaon, an adivasi village in the Narmada valley, which is the back drop of the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) movement. The people of Bilgaon are credited with doing 2000 person-days of shramdaan (community service) to make their village energy self-sufficient. The Bilgaon project is recognized as a model for replication by the Government of Maharashtra.

Some film critics alleged that the film is a remake of the Kannada film Chigurida Kanasu based on a novel of the same name by Shivaram Karanth. This claim was repudiated by Swades writer M G Sathya who said that he had been working on the story since the 1980s.[6]

    [edit] Production
The role of Mohan was first offered to Hrithik Roshan who refused after reading the script.[7]

Panorama of Menawali – the village in Maharashtra where Swades was shotSwades was the first Indian film to be actually shot inside the NASA research center at the Launch Pad 39A of the Kennedy Space Center of NASA in Florida.[8][9] To add to the authenticity of his film, Gowariker actually wanted to shoot the scene in the NASA space center rather than on a set. The rainfall monitoring satellite known as the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) in the film is an actual NASA mission and is currently scheduled to launch in 2013.[10][11]

swades got 8.6/10 of the critics the highest for any film in the world on imdb

Mohan Bhargava, a scientist working on one of NASA’s projects, decides to return to India to trace his childhood nanny, Kaveriamma (Kishori Balal).
He plans to bring her back to America so that she can spend her last few years in the lap of luxury.

He manages to find her in Charanpur, a small village in Uttar Pradesh. But Mohan soon realises that a big difference exists between life in America and Charanpur.

The villagers here are faced with poverty, lack of electricity, the existence of a caste system and most important of all, lack of education for the young.

Mohan also meets Gita (Gayarti Joshi) who works very hard at the village school. By educating the children, she aims to change their future for the better.

She does not agree with Mohan’s attitude and criticism, who believes that the government should be helping these people. So Gita challenges him to do something for his country.

Meanwhile, Kaveriamma is unable to make up her mind about emigrating to America whilst Gita tries her best to keep her in the village.

So, to come up with a solution, Kaveriamma asks Mohan to do her a favour – he is to collect rent from a poor farmer who has leased Gita’s land.

But this journey becomes an eye opener for Mohan. His perception of the village changes drastically.

He now takes matters in his own hands as he shows these people how to move forward in life by being independent in their own rights – by generating their very own electricity.

As the project nears completion, Mohan falls in love with Gita. More so, he becomes part of the village. He is now faced with a dilemma whether to return back to America or stay in his native land. . . .

Shah Rukh Khan has given a heart warming and sincere performance in Swades. He gets under the skin of his character. So much so, that we feel Mohan’s pain and his dilemma as he faces these village people.

And to evoke such emotions from the audience is a great achievement. Full credit goes to director Ashutosh Gowarikar.

The director has successfully managed to convey the message home – if you have the talent and the know-how, then return to your roots to help others improve their lives.

Swades is most probably the best film of 2004. It has already received raved reviews from film critics and audiences alike. Not to be missed!
