Legendary musician Ilayaraja has composed the music of his 1000th film, which happens to be R. Balki’s upcoming release ‘Shamitabh’.
To celebrate the legend’s incredible feat, Balki has organised a special event in the presence of superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan and several other living legends in the industry.
Ilayaraja
While Bachchan and Dhanush are expected to perform at the event, there are reports that other actors too will felicitate the 71-year-old veteran composer.
Ilaiyaraaja is also an instrumentalist, conductor, singer and a songwriter. He has composed more than 5000 songs and is the only composer in the history of cinema to compose the music of 1000 films.
The event is scheduled to take place later today.

I am a huge fan of AR Rahman and he according to me is the Best Music Director of Bollywood now . Hats off to you Ilayaraja Sir . 1000 films and 5000 songs that is really a huge achievement . With due respect to the Music directors like Burman Saab, our own AR Rahman sir Madhan Mohan Saab and few others… But being a great fan of Music, I could whole-heartedly and without any doubt say that Illayaraja sir is the best of the best … Hats off to u Genius…
