It was announced ages ago that Akshay Kumar will replace Emraan Hashmi in the sequel to Balaji’s 2010 HIT Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. The announcement was followed by months of speculation around who was going to play the parallel lead. Many names like Shahid Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan were discussed, but finally Ekta Kapoor and Milan Luthria have finalized the actor to play the character of Aslam.
The filmmakers have confirmed that Imran Khan, who is riding high on the success of films like Delhi Belly, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and EK Main Aur Ek Tu, will join Akshay Kumar for the much awaited sequel.
Says director Milan Luthria “The uniqueness of pairing Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi in the original made people sit up and applaud. By casting Akshay and Imran together for the first time, we’ve pulled off the casting coup of the year. Both the stars are diverse in their appeal, style and presence. Just like Akshay, Imran was electrified by the script that Rajat (Arora) and I have worked on!”
Ekta Kapoor too was equally excited about the star cast “We couldn’t have asked for a better actor than Imran to play Aslam. Not only does he fit the role to the tee but also enjoys an unprecedented fan following as a star. We welcome him to Balaji and look forward to working with him on the second edition of our franchise.”

Without Emraan Hashmi the film is nothing….
Emraan Hashmi should be in this film.Why they haven’t taken him?I think Emraan is 1000 times better than this Mamu’s boy Imran.I am dissapointed.

The beauty of Once Upon A Time In Mumbai was Ajay and Emraan. Akshay and Imran won’t look nice together but Akshay and Shahid had already work together and I really like their job. I was happy that Shahid and Akshay were going to work together again but now I won’t watch the movie because of the new duo… Very sad
Jab outim in 2010 rel.hui at that time emran is reponsible for goood openinf but after film end people love both.nd emran is perfect for the sequal.imran also good actor but without ajay nd emran can’t become outim.

akshay fits for roles like police,intellegence ,army type whereas ajay, sunjay dutt look lyk don . imran hashmi fits more in a spoiled gangster look whereas imran khan looks grt in a decent look. The movie may be a hit lyk spiderman3 & man of steel but the movie looses charm and become “once watched” movie.
