Akshay Kumar hikes endorsement fee (Photos)

Actor Akshay Kumar, who is said to be endorsing about 13 brands, has raised his fee for endorsement, and says it is a give-and-take relationship and therefore no harm in hiking his fees for such endorsements.

“When some thing is selling well, then I don’t think there is any problem in increasing the rates. I don’t think anyone should have a problem in that. It’s a give-and-take relationship,” Akshay told reporters Thursday at the unveiling of Eveready batteries’ new range here.

In 2011, Akshay was appointed the ambassador of the brand, while megastar Amitabh Bachchan endorsed it for two years.

The 45-year-old actor, who delivered three hits last year – “Housefull 2”, “Rowdy Rathore” and “Khiladi 786” – will next be seen in “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again” when it hits screens Aug 8.

  • @THE TRUTH Khiladi 786 is not a “Hit” but an “Above Average” grosser at boxoffice which means it falls safely in profit zone plus it earned a lot via theatrical rights etc too.
Indicine used the “Hit” word just to indicate that the film was not a commercial failure.
    Hope you understand. :)

  • sequel for namaste london

Six years after the success of ‘Namastey London’ (2007), Akshay Kumar and Vipul Shah are coming together with its sequel.

“After a thriller (Aankhen, 2002) and a family drama (Waqt : The Race Against Time, 2005), Namastey London was my first love story. In India, the biggest test for any director is to make a successful love story. And I passed that test,” says Vipul.

The director, along with his two writers — Suresh Nair and Ritesh Shah — had been working on the sequel for two years. In a happy coincidence, it got ready on Vipul’s birthday, which is today, and Akshay decided to gift the film to the director on his special day.

Though a sequel, Namastey London 2 will not be a continuation of the original. It will be a new love triangle between two heroines and one hero. “We will have two girls with Akshay and it will be more intense,” says the filmmaker.

“The philosophy of the film and most of the locations will be the same. We will be shooting in London, Punjab and Mumbai. The new additions are Germany and Switzerland. The sequel will be done on a more opulent scale as we don’t want to lose our audience. It has been challenging for us to reinvent ourselves. Both Akshay and I are really excited about it,” he adds.
